Hey, I need some help. (No, not for me, for my computer, lol)

I turned on my computer today, and it showed me a blue screen with this typed on it:

"Terminating thread due to a stack overflow problem. A VxD, possibly recently installed, has consumed too much stack space. Increase the settings of 'MinSPs' in SYSTEM.INI or remove recently installed VxD's. There are currently 4 SPs allocated."

How do I remedy this problem?

I am not familiar with this particular virus though. But that's what it sounds like.

Looks to me like Windows is having memory management problems. What a surprise. I guess it's possible a virus is causing stack pointers to keep moving too far down through memory. Just a guess.

A virus? aRe you sure? I mean, I just scanned with both my Norton and McAffee 2 days ago...

But how do I "increase the settings of 'MinSPs' in SYSTEM.INI"?

if she has a virii then no patch will save it

I would suggest to add that disk to a heavy protected/monitored system and run total virii scan by several scanners- if finds nothing, then put on patches, if that doesn't work- format (saving a backup previously of course)

It might not be a virus. Could just be Windows stack pointers screwing up and moving too far down through her memory.

yes- that's why I'm suggesting putting that HD on another system, which has other primary OS, and check that disk
