Where did the term "Thread" originate? Thread as in forum threads, not sewing threads. Unless they are somehow related.
A thread is long and binds things together. Like a bolt of fabric, or a story. Interestingly, the original proto-Germanic word thrathr meant "wire," which is still the meaning of the Modern German cognate Draht. It goes all the way back to an Indo-European root ter-, although I haven't been able to track it down. Evidence of sewing and weaving, and the separation of plant fibers to create thread, goes back about 30,000 years. We've been wearing clothes for about 70,000 years, which is when body lice which only live on humans speciated from the lice that live on other mammals.
