So I gave a look to the opening ceremonies last night and really wasn't impressed by the show at all. Watching England's history really didn't appeal to me for I was expecting ENTERTAINMENT not a history lesson. Even though it finally started to get some entertaining things going on about three fourths the way through the show I still didn't think the way that they gave about 30 seconds to every musical number then moved on to another number that , for the 80's, 90's and beyond I couldn't recognize very well.

Verdisappointeded with the opening ceremonies, China really hit the mark and their show will be very hard to top.

well they should have inserted Mitt Romney in their opening ceremony as welll to seal the deal of markmenship of UK Olympics)))

So far it is quite good.
Remember, it is not whether you win or lose that's important
but whether you beat the Australians.

I admit. I care. I watch. I double-delay the whole affair: I TiVo and watch later what was already delayed by NBC.

What do you like most superstring01? The swimmers?
I'm happy for the gymnastic's they got gold. A first since 96' volleyball is doing good, an the swimmers are hanging in there. Some real good competition so far. My wife wanted to see the olympics, SO... I have seen more than I have wanted too....

Do you think Superstring will be spending his days looking at the sleek muscular swimmers?
Do you think he is that shallow?

I like to watch the synchronised diving myself.
I try not to worry about the homoerotic overtones.

Men's gymnastics and divers make me tingly in funny places, so I make sure to watch that and a cold shower afterwards.

Other priorities are:
  • NOT basketball
  • NOT soccer/football
  • Swimming
  • Diving
  • Gymnastics
  • Volleyball
  • Beach Volleyball
  • Track/Field
  • Archery
  • Skeet Shooting

I keep promising myself that I will be attending the games again. I went to Barcelona and Atlanta. Never since. Hopefully I will be in a place in life where I can go to the Rio games. Funny, Beijing seemed--literally--like last year. I have three years left of school (to get my masters) and it seems so far away. But the time is really rushing by. My boyfriend will be done with his grad school in two years (physician's assistant - neuro-surgery) and I think financially and life/balance-wise we'll be able to go. I really want to make it happen.

How about hurdles?

I was wondering how long it would take for that clip to surface here.
Michelle Jenneke. Internet Sensation.

Yeah, ok. So has anyone asked themselves why they think this clip is so damned sexy? Why it absolutely blows some American girls telling why they'll continue wearing their bikinis in beach volleyball out of the water?

Look. Sexy isn't about saying you are, about planning it for viewer reaction... it's about being it. Michelle Jenneke... does anyone think that clip was in any way orchestrated, planned, anything other than 19 year old exuberance made reality?
This was a teenage girl who'd achieved something she had aimed for for a long time, and was there, and enjoying every damned second of it. She's a hurdler. Even the hip-wiggling made sense, in context. Do you think she had a set of earphones on and was listening to some some vapid, brainless, 80's pop song? Hell no. She was a young girl, in her prime, and having the time of her life. she wasn't thinking about her boyfriend other than that he might have been watching... and she certainly wasn't thinking she was there for boys.
This clip is a moment. A point in time. This is Michelle Jenneke.

I would happily take a shotgun to whoever put that clip up to that soundtrack. I'd be smiling every second of it. Boom. No loss to the world. Both barrels to that guy who put up that other clip of himself in the background. Youtube it. You'll see.
What makes this so sexy is that there was no plan, no calculated ploy, no newspaper article. The cynical view of Michelle Jenneke being filmed at that moment is that it will result in one of only two things... she'll never do it again, or she'll do it again for attention knowing people are watching. It will never, in either instance, ever approach anything like that clip was.
The best thing about it is that we got to see it.
The worstthing about it is that we got to see it.

Marquis, what the fuck is your problem and what was your point anyway???

What's happened to Australia?
Lower in the table than North Korea.
Lower even than Kazakhstan.

That's the way they count them.
Perhaps 3 silvers could equal 1 gold.
And three bronzes could equal 1 silver.

Most of the time it works out anyway, but Australia are just falling short on many events.
There will no doubt be a national enquiry when the team gets home.

Have you got a Minister for Sport.
He's for the Dunny.

Well, they count it wrong. Specially when the difference is only 0.01 second between #1 and #2.

There is also the point system, I think they count it down to 6th place...

In one cycle race, the winner won by the width of a bicycle tyre.
At say 40mph, that's a tiny bit over 0.001s difference.

Had a great day at the Olympics last week, the park is amazing. Loving the sports so far too.
