my threads seem to be derailed or go no where? i try to create threads in the serious areas that are meant to incite intelligent, reason, and logicial debate on topics i feel are important. they seem to get derailed by people who either claim i'm wrong while providing no proof that i am wrong or they just don't get people talking. can anyone give me advice to insure i make my threads better?
I just looked around and most of your threads are either in Religion or Politics. Well, what else did you expect? Reason, intelligence and logical debate is as far away from religion and politics as it can be.
i don't know i guess i just expect people to be able to discuss important things while being some what respectful
Psst ... diversity. I know what you're getting at, and it's sad, but we really do have to make some effort to accommodate the deliberately self-challenged.
Hint: If you pick a topic that really IS important, lots of people will discuss it with you. Second hint: Universal Health Care is going nowhere in the U.S. and religion and politics are all matters of opinions - people get tired of those pretty quickly.
That wasn't trolling, silly, it was a valid suggestion. :bugeye: Here's another one: know ANYTHING about science???? If so, take a look at the threads that ARE active and start one on a similar scientific subject.
Any way, if you want a really serious discussion, start an ALPHA thread. I think they can be made in other than science subforums as well. Mods will be obliged to delete all offtopic, etc. When creating a new thread, simply mention that it's an ALPHA thread in the title.
It's the derailments that make the site worth visiting. Some people are trying to change sciforums into some kind of science site.
since when has health care and how to better it been unimportant. Also in part a troll is someone who makes a post with intent of inciting anger in someone, and considering i have never hid the i find you unwilling to reasonably discuss the nor provide proof to your claims that i am wrong it would be reasonable to assume you were trying to incite anger in me.
well dont worry too much cause when i try to type sumthing people donno what im saying and guess what i dont know meself at times
Yes Donnal, That was a bit mean. This is a good subject for a thread and I would like to hear any ideas from successful (or unsuccessful) posters. Some possible ideas. A thread title that invites interest. (this thread's title is fine) The poster steering the thread back to the initial subject. The poster introducing a new point of discussion when things falter.
They can do, however it's not just about starting an Alpha thread but telling a moderator in that forum your intention, since after all they are the ones that are suppose to keep it on track and might have to swat up on how to conduct the thread.
