i believe we should make "alpha" threads official policy. in other words all threads preceded by the word "alpha" in the title must conform to the rules laid out in the first post. where has that bugger run off to anyway? by the looks of the thread i have read he went underground or something. may god always bless you and yours pete.
I think that a similar policy has been adopted, called Rokkon rules or something. Basically the original poster outlines the parameters of the discussion. I do agree, though, that these rules be made SciForums wide, if they haven't already (I don't really spend enough time in the other fora to know). Merging them with the Rokken rules would be a good idea, too.
I have never been a fan of "alpha" rules. sciforums ought to be a place where people can discuss things in an intelligent way, without needing to make that any more specific than it already is. We're supposed to be an "intelligent community", after all.
Well, let's have a look at the Alpha rules, from the Physics forum: Should this not apply automatically to ALL threads in all forums? As far as I am concerned, these things should apply in ALL sciforums threads. The hardest one to police is "No hijacking", and it probably derails more threads than any other type of bad behaviour. But moderators could just be more strict about that - there's no need to a two-tier system of rules in threads, as far as I can see.
I actually posed this idea a while back in one of the SciForums policy threads, and it was dismissed as too difficult to impliment.
Absolutely---I agree. But communism works, in principle, too Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
