Will AI be or get smarter than the people who developed AI?

Non-computer person asks.
Great question

My thoughts would be along the lines of numerous kids turn out to be smarter than their parents

Not exactly AI in the traditional model but I would contend already happened with Facebook being smarter than Mark Zuckerberg, or at least has much more information than that which is contained in Zuckerberg's brain

To be 'smarter' though perhaps Zuckerberg needs to put in a algorithm which finds novel ways to use the information PLUS write a novel algorithm which outdoes Zuckerberg's

:)

I believe not.

Humans will always be smarter and more intelligent than any Artificial Intelligence.

Take a look at chess for instance: Gary Kasparov is still much better player than any chess-playing program invented to date.

Humans will always be smarter than AI... until humans start becomin extinct an AI continues to evolve.!!!

If AI is going to go on without humans, it's going to have to evolve its own power supply, its own repair systems, ideally its own reproductive system. It will have become AL.

Smart is about the SPEED of understanding , anything

AI , is smart rather than wise .
Smart is short-term: a smart approach to a specific problem. Wisdom is long- term: a wise approach to an array of problems.

It doesn't need to be smarter than the people who developed it; it only needs to outlast them - which is not difficult.
Once the non-computer people become dependent on AI, AI only needs to be smarter than them - which will not be difficult.
