As the Christmas day magnitude 9 quake struck west of Sumatra, on the other side of the globe Yosemite Park experienced a 3.4 quake.

As world events go, 15,000 - 20,000 lost lives from the resulting tsunamis makes this the greatest natural disaster of the decade.
I do hope that my friend Arthur C Clarke is alive and well in Sri Lanka in the midst of this catastrophe.

Last Christmas day the city of Bam in Iran suffered several thousand earthquake victims.

Of course these events have been given a bizarre interpretation by Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell. Even stranger conjectures have been made by some who portend the covert use of scaler energy weapons.

I however place the blame on plate tectonics.

How come I never heard about this until now, if it was so global? And why didn't I feel an earthquake in Oregon?

Eh, the Earth pulls a number 9 earthquake out of its rear every fifty years or so. It was inevitable.

ya we had the 9 then a few 8's back to back its getting kinda odd, thyey said this one even caused a brief disruption in the rotation of the earth.

its on the TV right now

is it possable that the one in antatica was a pre-shock or something?

isnt it strange that you would have uncontected an 8 and 2 days latter a 9?

How serious a disruption? Does this alter in any way the length of the day?

This explains why I never heard about it . . . The news is too depressing, and I have better things to do, so I don't watch it.

All the planet is vibrating" from the quake, said Enzo Boschi, the head of Italy's National Geophysics Institute. Speaking on SKY TG24 TV, Boschi said the quake even disturbed the Earth's rotation.

thats all it said I will look and see what i can find

well it only makes sense, if u drain the planet of it's natural reserves(OIL AND PRECIOUS METALS) the earth will adjust(CAVE IN) above this, creating natural disasters(EARTHQUAKES AND TSUNAMIS)!

    HELP SAVE R PLANET!

thats what was reported on the news, that it could be felt in hobart. I cant personally verify this as i am to far north of tassi so i just have to go on the news reports

    my news story said

"the largest quake in 5 years with a magnitude of 8.1 on the richter scale struck off shore eariler today, however because of its distance from the shore, no damage has been reported"

then again, i suppose their doesnt have to be damage for it to be felt

21,000 dead and rising this has to be ranked one of the worst disasters this century

but as usual, no-one will do anything, they will just sing a song, donate a dollar then walk off, leaving all affected by it with no help at all

Me, my hometown and the country I'm in now are safe, though we're actually close to the disaster spot.........

That aside, quake everywhere? whoah, what's going on..... Yellowstone supervolcano decided not to burst outwwards but inwards instead?

Theyre saying it was 9 on the richter scale now.

I still cant quite believe there wasnt a warning system in place, but no doubt there will be one soon. And its important for people to know that when the sea retreats back down the shore as if the tide is going out all at once, that its time to head for the hills. The amount of footage that shows people going
"Oh look, some really big waves, how odd, hang on, theyre growing, oh fuck"

something I have noticed is look at where all the quake activaty has been in the past few years or just the past year, if you goto the USGS website they have them mapped.

it shows that probably 90% of them is close to the equator wheich makes since because with the melting of the ice sheets, the ice sheets would produce less pressure on the earths crust letting it flex back out at the polls drawing the center in moving the tectonic plates.

I would look for alot more of these types of quakes.

I would have you look up some texts on plate tectonics.
