Thomas Jefferson knew because he himself studied the previous failed attempts at government. He understood actual history, the nature of God, his laws and the nature of man. That happens to be way more than what most understand today. Jefferson really knew his stuff. A voice from the past to lead us in the future:

“When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe .” -- Thomas Jefferson

“The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.” -- Thomas Jefferson

“It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world.”
    -- Thomas Jefferson

“I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.” -- Thomas Jefferson

“My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.” -- Thomas Jefferson

“No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.” -- Thomas Jefferson

“The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.” -- Thomas Jefferson

“The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.” -- Thomas Jefferson

“To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.” -- Thomas Jefferson

    Thomas Jefferson said in 1802:
“I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property - until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.”

Here is the part you forgot, he had serious disagreements with many of the founding fathers including but not limited to George Washington and John Adams. Jefferson was a slave owner and not very good at managing businesses or money. He died deeply in debt and his slaves were sold to cover some of his debts.

Thomas Jefferson was one of the greatest of our founding fathers.
He did own slaves, he was not perfect, but he was a absolutely correct in terms of the Bankers f*cking us over - which they are. Now all they have to do is reach into their pockets and pull out a Bush Jr or an Obama and their bidding is done.

Almost everything he quoted has come true or is coming true. He must have known the future somehow and they probably didn't like him because of his understanding of how powerful the banking system would become. He did own slaves but was doing so when it was legal which didn't make him right but made him law abiding at least. I'd think that all he did for America during his life more than made up for his poor judgment by owning a slave.

I know he owned slaves , I didn't know he was poor and had to sell slaves to make ends meet . I don't know about that ?
He was wrong about one thing . He said it would take 100 generations to cover the Louisiana Purchase with civilization. Wow was he wrong about that .
Well maybe not being that I my self am not that civilized and I live on the Lewis and Clark trail . In Fact we got the only confirmed camp of Lewis and Clark right here in Lolo out side of Missoula . I lived across the street before it was discovered when I first moved to Montana .
It was the latrine that was found and confirmed . Historical site yes indeed

Now who was stiffing who, Jefferson was the guy sticking his creditors by not paying his bills - reminds me of another famous Tea Partiers, Rep. Walsh. Jefferson was good at taking loans, not so good at paying them back.

George II and his merry band of Republicans were the best special interest money can buy. George II and his merry band of Republicans opened public coffers for special interest raids as no time before in American history.

You cannot say the same with any degree of veracity about President Obama.

Well it was more than poor judgement in owning slaves. He was terrible at managing business and finances - no wonder he didn't like bankers. He could not pay his debts.

I would like to know what you think Jefferson predicted that has come true, in you view.

If I gave you my opinion you'd want facts to back up what I say. Since I'm only giving an opinion I can't provide every fact that would be needed to keep you from saying that you need to see the facts. Knowing that it is rather difficult to answer your query.

Joe I'm trying to get a grip from were you are coming from . You were a republican and business person who worked for a fortune 500 club entity. Now your a progressive apparently full on board with the agenda coming straight out of Washington ? It does not quite compute in me brain ? Is it the alignment with government were as you can only see your self , or who you represent being viable unless you partner with government . If that is the case I seen something similar to that with Me own chapter of Chamber of Commerce here in Missoula and the M.B.I.A. were they think if they get on board and support the agenda and not make waves there business membership won't be targeted as objects of ridicule in public eyes .

It is ridicules cause business has been made the demon already and the machine will take down entities regardless of the hide and go seek method of doing business. Course the special interests that control the administration puts the fear of god into business people as I have witnessed " The Punishment for speaking out "
To bad they can't punish Me . Wild ass Musicians are unrule-able as well as unruly . They like Me for some strange reason anyway . Must be like Girls that like Men who practice *misogynistic behaviors

    * thank you James , you are greatest , Plagiarized words are fun

An opinion is one thing, but you said that all that Jefferson predicted came true. So that being he case, I would expect that you could cite an instance where that was the case.

So the bottom line here is that you have no evidence of anything Jefferson predicted ever came true.

Jefferson had a lot of opinions too. But that does not make his opininons any better or more sage than any of the other founding fathers. My problem is not with Jefferson. The man had some very valid concerns and opinions. My concern is with how modern right wingers have created and idealized notion of the man that is not based in fact and to the exclusion other founding fathers like George Washington.

Private banks do not control the money supply today as they did in Jefferson's time. So making comparisons between the banking system Jefferson knew and todays banking system is just not valid. They are two very different beasts.

Federal Reserve !! Private or Government ? Real Estate law taught Me it was Private . It was a Question on the Government test I took many years ago in 1975.

Course the line is not clear these days as the line with Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae is not as clear either .

Banks took our sovereignty long ago if you ask me . So I think Jefferson was right . 1913 is the magic date . Jekyll Island.

I think you can say the exact same thing of POTUS Obama. He's asking Congress to print more money to pay our debts. That's akin to defaulting on said debt.

One wonders why Congress and the US POTUS doesn't just give China our 8000 tons of gold.... I mean, according to you it's ONLY a commodity, and not a very useful one at that! Oh, but, there's no way in hell the US is going to pay the Chinese with our gold. No No No. We will default though, through the printing of more zeros on a computer screen somewhere. At least we export one thing to the world, inflation.

Anyway, back to the point. Thomas Jefferson was one of the greatest POTUS and Founding Fathers this nation has ever known. He was absolutely correct in his dissertation of the Banksters.

Not that it matters. Here's what's going to happen. Obama and the US Congress is going to print more money. Then the Fed will initiate QE3. Then QE4. Then QE5. Then the Baby-Boomers will eat their just deserts for their insolence

Meanwhile most Americans will get used to their lower standard of living. Many more will be living in ghettos and on the streets. The US will become more radical and more violent. Things will continue to deteriorate.

Yes you can say the same thing about Obama, but it would not be true. But then that has never been a concern for Republicans/Tea Partiers.

Two, President Obama is not asking Congress to print more money to pay our debts. He is asking Congress to allow the Treasury to borrow money to pay the debts Congress has authorized and required the president to spend.

If Congress does not authorize the increase in the debt ceiling, then the government will not have the cash to pay its bills and that is a default. Raising the debt ceiling is not a default. Printing money, which is not a function of Congress, is not a default. Not paying your bills is a default.
You appear to be a bit confused Michael. One, there is no reason to give China US gold reserves - not one single reason. And no one is proposing same. That is right wing fear mongering.

Two, you appear not to understand what a default is Michael. A default is when a party is legally obliged to perform and fails to do so. It has nothing to do with the borrowing of money nor the printing of money.

Three, you have no proof that the US is exporting inflation. Because it is not. China does have a problem with inflation. But it is a problem of their own making. They have insisted on manipulating their currency, keeping it artificially cheap as a trade strategy. The consequence of that strategy is inflation. That has nothing to do with The United States - sorry to disappoint you.
Ok, you like other conservatives like Jefferson. But Jefferson was not the only or even the most important founding father. And Jefferson's views were not held by all of the founding fathers.

But here is what I find kind of odd, conservatives/Republicans/Tea Partiers like to view themselves as the party of fiscal responsiblilty. But recent history has shown them to be anything but, and their ideal is a man who could not manage his personal finances and could not pay his bills and died deeply in debt.

It just seems a bit odd. If you are really serious about fiscal conservatism it seems to me that you should have an idol that embodies those principals and not one who is the antithesis of that ideology.
Ah no Obama and the US Congress is not going to print more money. Printing money and regulating the money supply is the function of the Federal Reserve, not the Congress or the president.

You appear not to understand that congress controls fiscal policy and monetary policy has been delegated to the Fed. They are two very distinct and seperate issues. You are confusing and mixing the two.

No here is what may happen. If the Republicans/Tea Partiers continue their insane fiscal policies (spend like Hell and then refuse to pay the bills), the nation will crumble and many will be living in the streets.

And one other little fact, for all the talk of excessive growth in the money supply, there is not a single grain of evidence to support the claim. Now the claim is great for hysterics in right wing circles. But like much of what we see in right wing circles there is just ZERO basis for it in reality.

The Fed is a government corporation. It's actually not unclear at all. It does admit national banks as members but the banks have no say in how the Fed is run...it's run by government officials appointed by the President with the advice and consent of the Senate. The only thing the banks get for the "share" they own is the a tax bill for the privilege and the right to borrow from the Fed (and the concomitant right to repay those loans with interest).

If I owned shares in a private company, and they rewarded me with no say in how the company is run a tax bill I had to pay, I'd not call that "ownership."

Jefferson also hoped that the future of the country would be that we could all, one day, break our backs working as farmers in the country. He hated industry and manufacturing, and that's why he hated the banks...banks served industrial interests far more closely than they did agrarian ones. Banks also disproportionately served northern interests (where the money increasingly was). Jefferson hated cities because he was a southerner from the country...and like many of us he thought the life he knew should be the ideal. Agrarian work seemed noble and rewarding to him, as I'm sure it would to me if I had a fleet of slaves to do all the unpleasant parts.

Thanks heavens the South listened to him and the North did not, listening to Hamilton instead (pro-industry, and pro-national bank). If not for that, the South might still have slaves today. If you want to see a prodigy, look at Hamilton. He was raised poor and a bastard, effectively orphaned at a young age, and made himself into a great man. Jefferson was born privileged and pissed that advantage away through much of his life. Studying Greek, Latin and French at a young age isn't that impressive. It's one more language than my kids are studying. Studying the classics at a young age (especially in Latin) was standard even in the backwoods in England (Shakespeare wasn't rick and he studied Ovid, famously), so it's not surprising that Jefferson did that either. Entering college "young" wasn't uncommon back then...and lawyer at 23? That's just two years earlier than the norm today, and not uncommon for the period (though he was busy with many other things in those years).

That's not to say he wasn't smart, her was.. He was also frequently eloquent. He was also petty and small minded. He tried not merely to debate his political opponents, but destroy them, and he didn't care if people had to lie to accomplish that.

Hamilton on the other hand had to be smart enough that the locals in his town on St Kitts in the Caribbean voluntarily contributed money to send him to America, so his potential could be realized. Franklin was a world-renowned genius by the time of the revolution. Jefferson was an interesting character, but we live in a more Hamiltonian and Franklinian America than we do a Jeffersonian one. (Sadly, we also live in a Jacksonian democracy.)

Jefferson believed in revolution so much that he lauded the French Revolution for a long time after it had descended into a blood-soaked tyranny. He must have turned his psychic skills off there.

As a registered Democrat I'm not sure how that works?

China bought a bunch of treasuries in good faith. The USA is now "monetizing" that debt. Which is, IMO, defaulting on the debt. The USD is the world reserve and with that comes a responsibility to be fiscally honest.

If China legally holds down their currency, that's fine, we can legally put up tariffs. OR, OMG, stop deficit spending.

Lots of Liberals like Jefferson as well. It's not a 0 or 1 issue.
He was one of the greatest founding fathers IMO.
Not me, I think both the DEM and GOP are the exact same bunch of ass kissing sexually deranged crooks.
Since when did save and invest become "conservatism"?
Except the excessive inflation occurring in the lives of ordinary Americans. Whose lives are getting shittier Joe. That's what you don't seem to get. But, that's OK. You and I are going to do just fine. Probably even make some money? But, for most Americans, they aren't going to know what hit them. And, when it does, we'll probably get change. Will that change be good? Maybe. Maybe not.

We'll have to wait and see...

So what are you saying . It is not for the people by the people ? Rather that the Public don't own its Government any more ? Is that your implication ? More like it is Government Corporation run by cronyism. That is a scary thought . I don't doubt it the way the E.P.A. seized power
