Is the world getting better, or is the world getting worse? What is the world of tomorrow going to bring? In my opinion, the world is getting worse; people are becoming less respectful, people don't care about formality and gentlemanliness any more, people are getting dependent on pressing buttons to get an answer, people are becoming weaker overall, etc, etc
I think the world was bad. Then it got worse. Now it is getting worse. I am only going to guess it will get even worse. I think this is just the beginning of worse. I agree with you. People don't have any self respect anymore. They do what everyone does. Someone takes a shit on their kitchen floor, they use the excuse well they did it first. No one fights for what is right anymore, they only fight to win. No one wants to make the world better, the only want it to get better. People lost their common sense. Common sense is a lot more valuable than one might think.

What exactly constitutes 'better'? More prosperous? More free? Longer lives? Happier Lives? All of the above? I would argue that if we were to compare today with recent history, once would discover that we live longer, happier, more free and much more prosperous lives and that we could reasonably expect most or all of these trends to continue into the foreseeable future. So, yes the world is getting "better", but of course the answer to the question depends entirely on what criteria one uses for 'better'.

I'd think it depends upon your position or status in life. If you are working, earning a good income, have good or reasonable health, have a nice savings account, own a home free and clear, have a nice family, live in a decent area, are happy with who you are and what you do then I'd say that you were in a very good world. I can only hope that all here are or are at least in a somewhat good world wherever they are.
I think it's the same. People always talk about the "Good Old Days", but I'm not sure those days ever actually existed. I don't think there was ever a time in human history when there were no rude, disrespectful kids or when people were never lazy. Even the ancients wrote about how humanity was soon to be doomed by the way the young people behaved.
