I just saw this movie yesterday and was very impressed by it. I honestly went in there expecting to be bored to tears.

Anybody else see this one yet?

I was bored to tears. It was an interesting and significant event, but they made it just another hollywood fantasy.

Really? Hm. I certainly didn't see it as realistic, but I did think it was fun.

For starters, they made the Saudi's look like a bunch of inept dolts at investigation. I'm not saying that the Saudi's are the best of the best, and I don't really see them as "good guys", but the entire royal family, their enforcers and their politicians are all pretty much educated at places like Quantico, US War College, and Harvard-- it's not like the techniques that those FBI agents had would be magical to them-- their investigators have all been trained by the US and the UK for years.

Any regime that can be that thorough in its absolute oppression has to be good at investigating. The notion that the Saudis put an inept general in charge of an investigation is ridiculous. Moreover, they'd be on the horn to their buddies in the US in a New York minute getting all sorts of goodies from the CIA and FBI. Pride would have nothing to do with it-- they are thorough, and they'd definately want whatever "secret" aid that helped them eliminate the threat.

I agree with that. There would be no controversy about bringing in the FBI, like they can't keep anything secret?

I remember when there was a bombing in Riyadh, in one day, the notice was sent to all parts of the kingdom (we also received it where I was), in 3 days they had arrested the guys, in Ghassim. The Saudis are pretty good at this stuff.

edit: heh the story is online

But we never heard any talk of al Qaeda.

That's because Al Qaeda probably wasn't involved in that attack, according to what I've read.
