View Full Version : South Park
Isaac Hayes has quit "South Park," where he voices Chef, saying he can no longer stomach its take on religion.
"There is a place in this world for satire, but there is a time when satire ends and intolerance and bigotry towards religious beliefs of others begins," the 63-year-old soul singer and outspoken Scientologist said.
South Park" co-creator Matt Stone responded sharply in an interview with The Associated Press Monday, saying, "This is 100 percent having to do with his faith of Scientology… He has no problem and he's cashed plenty of checks with our show making fun of Christians."
Stone told The AP he and co-creator Trey Parker "never heard a peep out of Isaac in any way until we did Scientology. He wants a different standard for religions other than his own, and to me, that is where intolerance and bigotry begin."

spidergoat 03-14-06, 11:59 AM That's funny. Scientologists are weird.
wesmorris 03-14-06, 12:01 PM It's a sad thing that he's such a moron.
kenworth 03-17-06, 08:49 AM on topic: that is weird but it seems to be the same with a lot of religious people,a friend of my who was a ferverent catholic used to go on about how stupid jehovas witness` beliefs were without applying anywhere near the same scrutiny to his own
off topic: jb this is the first thread ive seen you post not relating to race.there is a small tear in the corner of my eye and i think i love you a little.
spuriousmonkey 03-17-06, 09:08 AM Don't cry too early. There is still time for JB to point out that Isaac Hayes is black.
KennyJC 03-17-06, 09:12 AM I liked the episode where all the christians etc went to hell and they were wondering why they went to hell despite their religion and Satan said "Mormons go to heaven, yes... Mormon is the correct answer"
...
"Ahhhh..."

shhhhhh.
wesmorris 03-17-06, 09:43 AM okay, so now I hear that tom cruise went to viacom (parent of comedy central) and threatened that he would not participate in MI3 promotions for the forthcoming movie if southpark ever played the scientology episode again. so viacom put the hammer down on comedy central and the episode is now taboo.
how very, very what, ironic maybe, that an episode of a series that basically consists of all taboo episodes is now being pimped by a zealotous midget into banning an episode, effectively making it actually taboo.
what a disgusting little loser.
comisaru 03-17-06, 09:50 AM I have read some years ago, I couldn't remember where, that the Church of Scientology was founded as result of a bet at a bridge card game table, by an atheist.

Yea! basically and that atheist was L. Ron Hubbard. ;)
Scientology was a myth created by Ron, as a means to aquire financial success without paying taxes! The SOB made billions before he hit the bucket to his next dimension. :D So it worked.

Hapsburg 03-18-06, 12:50 PM Religion makes people stupid. Scientology is just one of the stupider ones, though not as retarded as christianity.
I mean, hell, at least Scientology has cool shit like spaceships and hydrogen bombs and aliens and shit...almost like a SciFi story.
Godless 03-18-06, 04:32 PM Haps, L Ron Hubbard founder of BS scientologycraporeligion was a sci-fi writer. Most of the crap he made up, from his sci-fi fiction novels.

retard or retarded seems to be your favourite word, do you get called it alot or something?
"though not as retarded as christianity"
What is retarded about this religon, are there daily murders committed in the name of this religon, NO there are not, islam would be regarded by many as backward & retarded as there are daily murders commited in the name of this religon.
Religon is about peace, not murder, as christianity understands this concept, your whole statement is retarded..

Like Trey said:

wesmorris 03-20-06, 02:35 PM I read today that he did not quit. He recently had a stroke (jan 17) I believe. It said "his religion quit for him", as in his handlers from his cult quit on his behalf. Not sure how that works. Got the link from fark....
"Isaac Hayes did not quit "South Park" -- his church quit for him after Hayes suffered a stroke"

So I guess Hayes is prolly allright, but tom cruise is still a little bitch.
MadMaxReborn 03-20-06, 06:50 PM I love the idea of a religion based on monetary gain. It's a little like buying a box of cereal and getting God as the toy.
Oh, yeah, btw, I'm starting my own religion, and you can join for $1000.

Sad for lovers of the show (me!).
Sad that Iaasic is to be shown to be so intolerant of satire (if the story is true ... *sigh*)
I know I'll miss Chef's character a great deal ... :(

Hear! Hear!
Never did like cruise --- ever since that stupid Air Farce movie [Top Gun] wherein he acted exactly like a spoiled child and was not immediately cashiered. In the REAL Air Force, he'd have been grounded so fast ....
That's sad news about Hayes having a stroke and then being misrepresented, and even sadder that Matt and Trey responded in the way they did towards what is essentially a sick friend. I mean, they must have known about the stroke, right? Like any creative artists, they should leave their "shock tactics" in the work they do, and not personal matters or public pronouncements.
Cruise is a douchebag as evidenced by his "do you know who I am" response to being sprayed with water as a joke by Channel 4. He's an utter, utter wanker. Personally I like to think that the sainted Nicole Kidman belatedly realised this and this is why she left him, leaving him to find some teenager he could keep fooled for a few more years.
I read the "creed" of Scientology once, it's all very fine, very rational, very sensible stuff. In fact it's pretty much Humanism, written in "Ten Commandments" form. But it is a cult, and the Humanist doctrine precludes following any kind of nostrums, authorities or commandments just on the basis of belonging to a group or sect. Scientology is a cult, and Dianetics is snake-oil, and L. Ron Hubbard basically betrayed the promulgation of rationality and science which was the hallmark of his generation - the Golden Age generation - of science fiction writers by setting both those things up and selling them.

You can't fault the man for making a buck. He provided a product that for some reason people bought. They didn't have to.

Did you see the clip? I don't think he said that. I saw the whole thing, all he was saying was "That was very rude! Now why would you do something like that?" in a relatively calm manner.
