no idea ... my guess is he has been to the dungeons and seen the dragons

 

it was origionally a modifyed version of a game generals used to play based on real wars. He modifide it to make it more fun so that a wizard replaced a tank and bingo, D&D was found

umm, no idea. Do people still role play things like the civil war with little solders? or the middle age battles?

my son mentioned this to me last night! died because dr's screwed up!

Gygax invented Chainmail too, though it was a miniature wargame, rather than an RPG. Chainmail was based on an earlier medieval wargame called Seige of Bodenberg. I am not sure if any professional military people played these games regularly, as Seige of Bodenberg was for hobbyists.
