Police: Man fakes $5 robbery to avoid fight with wife CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - A man was arrested Thursday after allegedly lying to police about being robbed when a police investigation uncovered that he'd given money away, and lied to avoid an argument with his spouse. On Monday, Timothy Ray Sutton filed a police report claiming while unlocking his car in the parking lot of Veteran's Plaza a man pushed something hard against his back and demanded money, according to a news release from Officer Jim Knoll, spokesman for Clarksville Police. Sutton told police he thought it was a gun, but never saw a gun, the release said. Sutton provided officers a description of the robber and said $5 had been taken from him. Detective Larry Boren investigated the crime and found the information about the robbery was not true, the release said. Police believe Sutton had voluntarily given a homeless man $5 and lied about it to prevent an argument with his spouse about giving money away. Sutton, 23, was charged with making a false report. He was booked in the Montgomery County Jail on a $1,000 bond.

so, do you think the wife is a bitch because he didn't want to argue? I think that is what people are going to think. But I know if we needed to buy the baby diapers and my husband gave away the money, I'd be mad.
Clarksville Tennessee is about an hour West of me (I'm in Nashville). I don't think the place is totally redneck per-se (Fort Campbell is out there) but its my understanding that it's pretty darn rural. That being said, I'm sure the cheapest diapers in town would be Walmart. The small packs of diapers at Walmart are ~20 bucks. . Assuming 5 bucks was all the money he had, he wouldn't be able to afford anything. I was wondering why the husband went through the trouble of actually calling the police. Seems like a ridiculous pain in the butt way to build credibility since he's trying to avoid drama, so I started pondering how it could have happened. The first rational scenario that popped into my mind is when a child lies to parents claiming that he/she is sick (to get out of something), but it backfires and the parents take the child to the doctor. The child is forced to own up to it, or carry their little bluff all the way to the end. LOL @ my wife. I told her about this, and she remarked "That's the same way the Salem Witch Trials started. Little girls lie about something, and next thing you know, people are getting executed"
