I don't know why, but something tells me that if Bush said this, there would be howls of outrage... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070801/ap_on_el_pr/obama_terrorism_7
Why, countezero? That's what I wanted all along, to fight the real war on terror and stop ignoring what's going on in Pakistan!
Well, just like Bush, Obama is turning to militarism as his ratings sink. The only thing to note about recent polls is not who is winning, but the fact that the ongoing war of words between Clinton and Obama is turning off voters. Howls of outrage? Not necessary. Continued declining support among Democratic voters? Yeah, probably. He's showing his political inexperience here, trying to prove he's got bigger stones than Hillary Clinton.
Here's what I don't understand. The drudge report just held a vote after the DNC youtube debate. And Obama won by a landslide. He generated 46% of the votes to Hillarys 13%. Obama has won every poll that the *people* has had direct participation in. A few examples. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0607/4573.html From the MSNBC POLL taken after the South Carolina debates. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18335732/ Who stood out from the pack? * 128,336 responses Joe Biden 7.4% Hillary Clinton 23% Chris Dodd 1.6% John Edwards 12% Mike Gravel 9.7% Dennis Kucinich 6.5% Barack Obama 31% Bill Richardson 8.5% MSNBC poll, who showed the most leadership qualities * 127132 responses Joe Biden 8.3% Hillary Clinton 26% Chris Dodd 2.2% John Edwards 13% Mike Gravel 4% Dennis Kucinich 4.7% Barack Obama 32% Bill Richardson 9.8% MSNBC poll, who was the most convincing candiate * 120660 responses Joe Biden 7.2% Hillary Clinton 22% Chris Dodd 2.1% John Edwards 14% Mike Gravel 4.7% Dennis Kucinich 5.7% Barack Obama 35% Bill Richardson 8.9% Who had the most rehearsed answers? * 119092 responses Joe Biden 5.4% Hillary Clinton 44% Chris Dodd 3.3% John Edwards 11% Mike Gravel 2.7% Dennis Kucinich 4.4% Barack Obama 22% Bill Richardson 7.2% Obama wins CNN Focus Group MSNBC | July 24, 2007 http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2007/07/23/285944.aspx Thursday, April 12, 2007 Barack Obama wins MoveOn survey Barack Obama won the MoveOn poll with results quite similar to those of the Democracy for American straw poll: Obama - 27.9 percent Edwards 24.7 percent Kucinich - 17.2 percent Richardson - 12.3 percent Clinton - 10.7 percent Biden - 6.2 percent Dodd - 1.1 percent http://obamabarack.blogspot.com/2007/04/barack-obama-wins-moveon-survey.html Obama Wins First Democratic Presidential Debate By Dick Morris and Eileen McGann http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,268978,00.html Latest American Research Group poll in South Carolina good news for Obama, bad news for Clinton. Barack Obama now leads in South Carolina: Obama: 33% Clinton: 29% Edwards: 18% Sample Date: July 26 - 30 [/b]OBAMA AHEAD OF 3 REPUBLICANS IN NEW POLL - WHILE CLINTON BEHIND[/b] Barack Obama is the most popular 2008 presidential contender in the United States, according to a poll by Bloomberg and the Los Angeles Times. At least 46 per cent of respondents would vote for the Illinois senator in head-to-head contests against three prospective Republican nominees. Obama holds a five-point edge over former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, a 12-point advantage over Arizona senator John McCain, and a 16-point lead over former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney http://www.thebarackobamareport.com/the_barack_obama_report/2007/06/obama_ahead_of_.html I can go on all night with examples. The only polls Hillary are winning are the BIG corporate polls, that you or I have no control over. This is even more proof that elections are won by the most poweful, not the most popular.
those BIG corporate polls also have a more balanced array of voters, much like you would see from a nation-wide election. In your moveon focus group example, Kucinich was ranked 3rd as the debate's winner, ahead of Clinton, Biden, and Richardson... case and point.
Even if you agree or disagree with Denis Kucinich. He's without a doubt one of the most skilled debators that has ever graced the stadium. His views are consistent, articulate, and delivered with razor sharp annotation and clarity.
No, I can be pleased. I've said many times that the US dropped the ball by shifting forces from Afghanistan to Iraq. And I think going after terrorists in Pakistan who the Pakistanis won't go after is a good idea. However, it has to be done carefully, otherwise it could be construed as an act of war. My original point, I suppose, was that if Bush talked this tough talk of Obama's, the usual suspects on this site would be out accusing him of "prepping" everyone for a war against Pakistan... I had no idea he had discussed the same thing in much more guarded terms.
The usual suspects on this site did know about that, however. It's common knowledge, in the much-maligned lefty press. And contrary to your presumptions, which (as with many conservatives) apparently become fixed in your memory as events, these usual suspects have not been howling in outrage about W "prepping us" for war with Pakistan. So this: is a consistent error, and you "don't know why" you make it. Maybe you should look into the matter?
