Well, my husband was miserable all weekend. He has a vicious rash and thought it was the new body wash he's using. Nope. My hunny bunny has chicken pox. 45 yrs old with chicken pox. It has now spread to the inside of his mouth and his eye lids.
We have no idea where he got it.
Can a person be a carrier and show no symptoms?

    Thanks Q
If I had known he hadn't had them yet, I would have made sure he got vaccinated when our daughter did. My son and I had already had chicken pox, so we didn't need to.

So people who have had chicken pox can get shingles later in life? With the chicken pox vaccine does that mean shingles could be eradicated?

It won't eliminate it, but it is likely to reduce this. It will probably be several generations before any conclusive evidence though. They're different diseases, chickenpox being varicella zoster, and shingles being herpes zoster, the former making you more vulnerable to the other.

Two people at my work got Shingles this last month and I was worried I may have gotten it - but I'd be shocked as I had chicken-pox AND shingles when I was a kid.

how are they painful? Is there swelling? Itching? Burning?
Does it look like chicken pox?

I got chicken pox when I was about 6, and shingles about 12--the latter all over my back--goddam, those shingles were painful. It was the worst pain I'd felt up 'til that time.:bawl:

orleander, shingles atack the nervious system not just the skin ect. thats what makes them so painful and in some cases deadly. that being said chicken pox latter in life sucks, they are surposed to be alot worse for adults compared to children, my sympathies to your husband
