View Full Version : Fraggle Rocker's Nomination for Moderation.
Jaster Mereel 10-17-06, 11:09 PM I hereby nominate Fraggle Rocker to be a second Super Moderator next to James R. James could use some backup, and we all love and respect Mr. Fraggle. Also, this is an involuntary nomination. Mr. Fraggle's opinion on the matter doesn't count. Disregard whatever objections he may raise to this nomination. Thank you.
francois 10-17-06, 11:25 PM I dunno. It's a responsibility that would take up time and energy. Time and energy that would be better used if Fraggle keeps doing what he's doing.
I vote no. He'd probably make a wonderful moderator. But I think he'd contribute more if he continues doing what he's doing.
Invert_nexus, on the other hand, might be better suited. He doesn't post a whole lot, but he seems awfully invested in this place. He's also smarter than James R. and less of a lefty. I have no problem with liberals for the most part--it's the extreme left exemplified by James R., who are so indoctrinated, they are incapable of entertaining ideas that go against their beliefs, I have beef with. Invert, is a more free thinker, by far. But that's a different topic.
Keep doing what you're doing, Fraggle!
invert_nexus 10-17-06, 11:44 PM He doesn't post a whole lot,
Yeah.
Tempus fugit. The little time that I do post, I seem to have a tendency to post in non-scientific and non-philosophical threads...
I used to post a lot more seriously back when I was not only a free thinker but also unemployed...
As to Fraggle... He's a great guy and a hell of a writer, but I'm not so sure that moderator is really his position. He browses the forums, yes, but it seems that he doesn't really devour them the way a mod needs to. He misses a lot of threads and/or takes him a long time to find some threads. Being a moderator would force him to alter his browsing style which would change the way he interacts with the forums which would change his very nature...
I've actually seen Fraggle get grumpy when dealing with Cool Skill. If he were a moderator, I bet he'd get grumpy a lot more. And that's not a good thing. Fraggle's a fraggle not a doozer.
(Actually, if I have the story straight, he's a gorg. His wife is a fraggle. At least he's not the trash heap... although, he is a font of wisdom just like the trash heap...)
Also, this is an involuntary nomination. Mr. Fraggle's opinion on the matter doesn't count.
Just how much of a moron are you? In the end Fraggle Rocker's opinion is the only one that matters.
I think you're a troll.
francois 10-18-06, 12:00 AM Jaster's a troll? Uh. No. Assuming he is, he's not a trolling in this thread. So... whatever.
invert_nexus 10-18-06, 12:10 AM Of course, if Fraggle agreed to run for mod, I'd vote yes.
If Fraggle agreed I'd say a huge yes.:)
His posts are always eloquent and well thought out. Of course the 'one formally known as cool_skill' would probably scream in abject horror, but that's kind of a good thing.
I must admit if he was made a mod, it would be a shame if he was not able to do what he does best.. and that is make the person he's targetting squirm.:D
thedevilsreject 10-18-06, 10:17 AM im voting yes
but it would be a no if he refused, im going the other way around to you guys
spuriousmonkey 10-18-06, 10:39 AM alright! I am fraggle!
Nickelodeon 10-18-06, 12:36 PM It may change the nature of the Fraggle, into something rather different.
spuriousmonkey 10-18-06, 01:26 PM The truth is of course that you cannot predict who will make a good moderator. We have seen the mishaps before.
thedevilsreject 10-18-06, 01:29 PM *coughs* xev
spuriousmonkey 10-18-06, 01:31 PM *coughs* electric fetus
well, that one I predicted.
was the fetus guy a mod, man was he... unstable
spuriousmonkey 10-18-06, 01:54 PM Yes, he didn't have any tiger blood in his veins (or arteries).
Blue_UK 10-18-06, 01:56 PM Nice new look to this place
Jaster Mereel 10-18-06, 04:44 PM No, I am not a troll. And this is not a joke... well, not completely. I love Mr. Fraggle, and I just wanted to honor him by proposing he be given a position of authority. I don't really expect this to get through in any serious fashion.
(As an aside, I was also trying to see how many of you would choose the third option.)
James R 10-18-06, 07:03 PM For Fraggle to be appointed as a Supermoderator, would it not make sense first to appoint him as a Moderator, and see how that goes?
Just a thought...
Jaster Mereel 10-18-06, 07:08 PM Good idea.
Also, I know it's your prerogative as a Moderator James... but it's not cool tampering with my poll. (Also, the third option kind of serves as a default "I'd prefer not to answer", although humorous.)
James R 10-18-06, 07:38 PM Any good poll should always include an "other" or "no opinion" or "don't know" option (or sometimes all three).
In the case of sciforums polls, you need to provide an option for people who want to see the results of the poll without having to commit to voting. (Yes, yes, I know there's a "View results" link, but you then have to click on that every time you view the thread.)
Fraggle is one of several that would be a good moderator.
Absane, Phonetic, Spidergoat, samcdkey, Theoryofrelativity, DevilInside, DevilsReject, cato & Superluminal are others that come to mind.
(plus Imaplanck)
redarmy11 10-18-06, 07:48 PM cato would make a terrible moderator, as would his partner-in-dullness, the aptly named cole grey. Both would turn the magical world of Sciforums into miserable, freezing Narnia within a week. So would another person in that list. But, just for fun... I won't name them.
Jaster Mereel 10-18-06, 07:49 PM Any good poll should always include an "other" or "no opinion" or "don't know" option (or sometimes all three).

My humorous third option seems to have been lost on you...
I would be The World's Worst Moderator, at least in any forum that isn't all Communist. I would exterminate all conservatives, all Libertarians, all theists and all Democrats.
Jaster Mereel 10-18-06, 07:56 PM I would be The World's Worst Moderator, at least in any forum that isn't all Communist. I would exterminate all conservatives, all Libertarians, all theists and all Democrats.
That's most people.
That's most people.I know. Bummer isn't it.:(

My ears are tingling:D
Re: Fraggle, it would be nice if someone asked him what HE wants.
francois 10-18-06, 08:49 PM I would be The World's Worst Moderator, at least in any forum that isn't all Communist. I would exterminate all conservatives, all Libertarians, all theists and all Democrats.
You'd get rid of Fraggle Rocker?
Yeah, you'd be the worst.
You'd get rid of Fraggle Rocker?
Yeah, you'd be the worst.I don't know everyone's positions well enough to be very well informed, I'm busy engaging trolls much of the time and miss alot. The ones I listed are certainly from some of my 'Exterminate' categories but I'm mainly basing it on who is most patient, argues the least with me and who has a high postcount.
domesticated om 10-19-06, 05:35 AM I voted no by default.
I don't read all of Fraggle's posts, so I don't know if there was ever an interest expressed in actually being a moderator. IMO- any member's actual interest is important in this matter because moderating a forum is more of a job than it is a privilege. Sure on our end, it will empower an insightful and intelligent peer with the capability to take 'maintenance actions', but on Fraggles end, now he can no longer just log in and chat like the rest of us. I would not want to emburden someone who enjoys chatting freely with any added responsibilities.
The Devil Inside 10-19-06, 06:10 AM I think you're a troll.
no, thats me.
spuriousmonkey 10-19-06, 06:26 AM no, thats me.
I support your nomination for troll.
imaplanck. 10-19-06, 06:28 AM I say all 5 that voted 'I am fragglerocker' should be banned for being sock puppets.:D
The Devil Inside 10-19-06, 06:29 AM I support your nomination for troll.
is this like an "official position", or is it just a name that you will get to call me?
The Devil Inside 10-19-06, 06:30 AM I say all 5 that voted 'I am fragglerocker' should be banned for being sock puppets.:D
im fucked.
spuriousmonkey 10-19-06, 06:33 AM is this like an "official position", or is it just a name that you will get to call me?
I don't know. Do I need a firm opinion on this matter?
spuriousmonkey 10-19-06, 06:34 AM I say all 5 that voted 'I am fragglerocker' should be banned for being sock puppets.:D
as long as you ban the puppet master.
and please ban the people with no opinion. You can't have people on a discussion forum with no opinion.
The Devil Inside 10-19-06, 06:37 AM as long as you ban the puppet master.
and please ban the people with no opinion. You can't have people on a discussion forum with no opinion.
im not sure what i think about your iron handed tactics.
spuriousmonkey 10-19-06, 06:39 AM what was good enough for stalin is good enough for me.
The Devil Inside 10-19-06, 06:49 AM thats what saddam said.
he ended up in a hole in the desert, with nothing but 2 sweaty republican guardsmen, 5 ak-47's, and a poster of britney spears.
his underwear photos were sexy as hell, though!!
spuriousmonkey 10-19-06, 06:54 AM his underwear photos were sexy as hell, though!!
yes, really, i do not understand how anyone can see him as a vicious dictator after that. He's a teddy bear!!!
Wait...
The free nelson mandela movement gave me an idea:
free saddam hoessein!!
The Devil Inside 10-19-06, 06:59 AM naw, man.
he had relatives of mine killed.
he is a bad man.
spuriousmonkey 10-19-06, 07:01 AM you have become so negative since you left. He merely brought them closer to baby jesus.
hallaluja!
The Devil Inside 10-19-06, 07:05 AM perhaps...
yeah, i have been negative since i left........ik heb heel veel probleem met mijn schoonmoeder en mijn vrouw's groetvader....oekraine is niet de zelfde wereld, ja? :)
spuriousmonkey 10-19-06, 07:07 AM Zeker niet. Finland is al een andere wereld. Maar gelukkig is de schoonfamilie aardig.
However, some relatives of my first Finnish girlfriend wanted me dead and buried although they had never met me.
some people just suck.
The Devil Inside 10-19-06, 07:18 AM yeah..i get that because they are all old school communists, and i am american. stupid, eh?
sometimes i wish i owned a gun. i would shoot stuff with it, but never people.
spuriousmonkey 10-19-06, 07:21 AM haha...the communist movement in Europe after WW2 was sooooo wrong. They kissed Stalin's ass till they were sucked into his poo-infested rectum.
And at the same time they marginalized the proper commies.
Especially in countries like france, belgium and holland.
The Devil Inside 10-19-06, 07:24 AM yeah indeed. im doing alot of reading right now on before/after economic dynamism in ww2 europe.
redarmy11 10-19-06, 09:21 AM ik heb heel veel probleem met mijn schoonmoeder en mijn vrouw's groetvader....oekraine is niet de zelfde wereld, ja? :)
Will the return of The Devil Inside see an upsurge in the use of marginal European languages? Bonus points for anyone who can relate this to whatever the thread topic is.
spuriousmonkey 10-19-06, 09:29 AM Bonus points for anyone who can relate this to whatever the thread topic is.
He is talking about fraggles qualities.
How many points did I score...?
isn't it a bit wierd that "schoon" gets attach to "familie/moeder" like "schoonmoeder" why not write "schoon moeder"?
spuriousmonkey 10-19-06, 11:41 AM because that is how god intended it to be.
dont you feal a bit cheated listening to that god fella
As a moderator he might feel forced to neutralise (or moderate) some of his opinions, and I think that would be a great loss. Otherwise he has everything a moderator requires.
isn't it a bit wierd that "schoon" gets attach to "familie/moeder" like "schoonmoeder" why not write "schoon moeder"?
Because it's a Germanic language, and languages in that family have a tendency to sticktogether words.
The current German champion is Rindfleischetikettierungsüberwachungsaufgabenübert ragungsgesetz.
sargentlard 10-19-06, 08:48 PM I wanna be a super moderator...after losing mod elections a record 5 times I deserve a consolation appointment to the mod chair.
Mr Anonymous 10-19-06, 10:26 PM Perhaps people sense that you're basically honest, conscientious, descent and fair minded - not at all open to bribery, corruption and offers of sexual gratification in exchange for favourable outcomes in relation to moderated decisions. Not that that can possibly said for any of the current Moderating team...
Isn't it time we had change? Someone, fundamentally.... evil?
cole grey 10-20-06, 05:38 AM cato would make a terrible moderator, as would his partner-in-dullness, the aptly named cole grey. Both would turn the magical world of Sciforums into miserable, freezing Narnia within a week. So would another person in that list. But, just for fun... I won't name them.
You ragged little weasel.
Keep your nose out of my shit.
I haven't allowed you to speak my name, so don't.
I don't go ragging on your half-baked, backyard beerbong life, so don't f___ with mine, and any time you feel the need to stick your useless picayune comments up your ***. please do so - you filthy, diseased, rat.
Do something with your life and then get back to me about mine.
I am absolutely none of your business.
And you have, quite literally, no idea, so there is an even better reason to keep your uninformed, uninspired, and unnecessary comments to yourself.
I would make a terrible moderator because when someone pissed me off I would just edit their posts to make them look stupid.
Of, course there are those who don't need any help.
test run that one for fraggle.
redarmy11 10-20-06, 05:50 AM Heh. I take it all back about cole grey. He sounds like he can be quite fun! I wish he wasn't so serious and boring all the time, though. Like that other one. That cato.
And you have, quite literally, no idea
About what!?? Be more specific, man! You mean no idea about anything!?? I'll have you know I'm one of the foremost authorities on making bongs out of ordinary household items in my region! The irony being that I loathe cannabis, and think it more insidious than crack!!!
filthy, diseased rat
I say, vicar!
domesticated om 10-20-06, 07:23 AM Isn't it time we had change? Someone, fundamentally.... evil?
No. Users will start being 'pre-emptively banned', gay members wouldn't be allowed to put eat other on their buddy lists, and the new mod would make up new policies saying its now legal for him to read our private messages so he can track down troublemakers.
redarmy11 10-20-06, 07:26 AM In other words, it would be enormous fun.
gay members wouldn't be allowed to put eat other on their buddy lists
An evil gay person would be good.
Dr Lou Natic 10-20-06, 07:50 AM I think a fat evil gay black person with big nuts would be better.
Not big hairy tough nuts, but big fat pussy nuts that flop around flamboyantly.
You know how in gay culture there are "bears" and "twinks", bears being big hairy masculine men, and twinks being petite smooth effeminate men?
Well imagine big fat twink nuts.
I think a fat black evil gay guy with big fat twink nuts would make a good super moderator.
But you know, sciforums has a long way to go before it's open minded enough to have a fat evil black gay guy with big fat twink nuts as a mod, let alone a super mod.
I wish sciforums would join us in the 21st century.
cole grey 10-20-06, 08:01 AM Heh. I take it all back about cole grey. He sounds like he can be quite fun! I wish he wasn't so serious and boring all the time, though. You know what they say about people that are easily bored.
The internet is such a hard place to inflect in, it just seems too difficult to joke around without making this or that person cry, so I stopped trying.
About what!?? Be more specific, man! You mean no idea about anything!?? I'll have you know I'm one of the foremost authorities on making bongs out of ordinary household items in my region!
Excellent.
Moderators pretty much need to be patient saints with a very light touch, or everything is ruined. It would be funny to see an evil moderator at work. Maybe they could ban people for being too nice, and edit out spellings like f*ing, replacing them with the real words, to keep things a little bit more intense.
P.S. FRANCOIS - re: James - if you want a racist moderator go to that racistfootball.com site somebody was using as a reference. You can go there and join in complaining about how whites don't get a chance to excel.
redarmy11 10-20-06, 08:02 AM I'm with you, Lou. As soon as you've explained how the size and character of our hypothetical moderator's genitals are of relevance?
Note to mods: Yes, I am encouraging him. He's a big boy though, and surely too smart to bring another ban upon himself, following so soon on the heels of the last. I feel sure that any response will err on the right side of decency.
* Runs for the door. *
cole grey 10-20-06, 08:05 AM Not big hairy tough nuts, but big fat pussy nuts that flop around flamboyantly.

:
Sounds like you spend a lot of time thinking about gay people's nuts.
Dr Lou Natic 10-20-06, 08:13 AM Sounds like you spend a lot of time thinking about gay people's nuts.
I spend a lot of time thinking about a lot of things.
As soon as you've explained how the size and character of our hypothetical moderator's genitals are of relevance?
Is this a trick question?
imaplanck. 10-20-06, 08:16 AM What is so special about Fraggle? I think we should have 10 nominees who express a desire to be a mod then hold an election.

The Fraggles, the puppet stars of the 1980s children's television series Fraggle Rock, are to star in a movie.
cole grey 10-20-06, 08:29 AM I spend a lot of time thinking about a lot of things.
For a straight person, you sure spend a lot of time talking about gays,

in detail.

Dr Lou Natic 10-20-06, 08:38 AM I agree we should have an election. They're always good.
I voted yes for fraggle without much thought, just because he's a great poster, but francois and invert made pretty convincing arguments and I think I've changed my mind.
I think invert really is the best choice for a super moderator. I don't think anyone would try to do as good a job as he would.
He's a big pussy so discipline might be an issue, other than that he's just so much more willing and ready to attack the job than anyone else.
P.S. FRANCOIS - re: James - if you want a racist moderator go to that racistfootball.com site somebody was using as a reference. You can go there and join in complaining about how whites don't get a chance to excel.
Realistically though, jamesr is extreme in the other direction, and it does affect his moderating.
You lean left yourself so you don't notice.
Invert isn't a counter balance to jamesr by any means, I don't think he's a racist or a rabid right wing lunatic, I don't know if he's right wing at all, and that alone is a very good sign.
Either way he is calm and open minded enough to read posts and understand them before making any decisions.
He's not easily offended.
JamesR is very easily offended, he's practically on a hair trigger, I don't see how he's appropriate frankly but it's not about me so I wouldn't call to get rid of jamesr but I would support bringing in another supermod, just so there's a balance of views in power.
It's a fairly reasonable request.
An election would be best.
spuriousmonkey 10-20-06, 08:38 AM I liked the muppet show better. Fraggles are just too nice. Too politically correct.
redarmy11 10-20-06, 08:42 AM I like James. He's so incredibly moral and upstanding, just as a daddy figure should be. I wish he was my daddy.
A counterbalance would be fun though. What about Kiwi?
Dr Lou Natic 10-20-06, 08:42 AM For a straight person, you sure spend a lot of time talking about gays,

Yeah yeah! lets do it. I know I'm about as popular as a horny dog at a lovely lady legs competition, but it would be cool if I could run.
cole grey 10-20-06, 08:51 AM Realistically though, jamesr is extreme in the other direction, and it does affect his moderating.
You lean left yourself so you don't notice.
Every time someone tries to make a joke out of a racial group, a sexual orientation, or make a personal attack, they are breaking the rules for the forum. The rules lean farther "left" than any moderator.
I do think it is important for the moderator to be able to look the other way most of the time, which all seem to do.
Also, a moderator should be able to be as extreme as they want in their posting, as long as they are fair in their moderating. I would hate to see invert become a moderator and need to change his whole manner of posting to be perceived as even-handed.
P.S.
I'm a faggot!
Thanks for finally, officially, putting that on the record.

Why the hell would I want a racist moderator? What's the implication here? Are you telling me I'm a racist? or are you just expressing that life would be simpler if you lumped me in that category? Whatever.
Dr Lou Natic 10-20-06, 09:17 AM When I become a moderator the first thing i do is ban Dr Lou for not mentioning me...
My hairy balls are tingling from 'fore-joy'.
Excuse me but you never mentioned that you had bear balls, I would definately have mentioned you if I knew this for sure, you dug your own grave by not pm-ing me your ball details. I suspected you had bear balls and was contemplating suggesting you as a super mod but then I got cold feet and thought "what if he has small smooth balls?", it was ultimately the uncertainty that stopped me from giving you the nod.
Invert had the common decency to mail me a full report on his testes. He even sent me penis girth measurements, I never asked for those as I fail to see what relavence they have to moderating but it shows the level of enthusiasm the guy has for the job.
You could learn something from invert, frankly.
redarmy11 10-20-06, 09:36 AM Does anyone know anything about the size and character of Fraggle Rocker's genitals? I can't believe we got this far into the thread without, erm, raising this point.
spuriousmonkey 10-20-06, 10:33 AM Excuse me but you never mentioned that you had bear balls, I would definately have mentioned you if I knew this for sure, you dug your own grave by not pm-ing me your ball details. I PMed the details.
Dr Lou Natic 10-20-06, 11:29 AM After reviewing the applications extensively and comparing the respective qualifications of both spurious and invert for hours on end with a magnifying glass, I declare spurious to be the more qualified by about 30 kilos of nut.
Congratulations spurious!
You are the new super mod.
Dr Lou Natic 10-20-06, 11:35 AM Ok.
It's been revealed that one applicant has grossly exagerrated his qualifications, as a result the new super mod will be decided by a poll.
I suppose we'll just have to speculate about their genitals and go with our gut in the polls... may god have mercy on us all.
cole grey 10-20-06, 04:57 PM Why the hell would I want a racist moderator? What's the implication here? Are you telling me I'm a racist? or are you just expressing that life would be simpler if you lumped me in that category? Whatever.
Someone could call me racist - but it is obviously untrue, so no problem.
If you are not a racist, then there is no offense to be taken.
francois 10-20-06, 05:29 PM Someone could call me racist - but it is obviously untrue, so no problem.
If you are not a racist, then there is no offense to be taken.
Yeah, but unprovoked, you called me a racist, completely out of the blue. What if I arbitrarily attacked you? Would you appreciate that? Redarmy kind of did that to you and you threw a fit. I did nothing to instigate and you attack me and have the nerve to tell me I shouldn't be offended. God damn, you're stupid.
Mr Anonymous 10-20-06, 08:31 PM No. Users will start being 'pre-emptively banned', gay members wouldn't be allowed to put eat other on their buddy lists, and the new mod would make up new policies saying its now legal for him to read our private messages so he can track down troublemakers.
Well, yes.... I should imagine that would be the very least of it. Sounds delicious, when can I start?
cole grey 10-20-06, 10:17 PM Yeah, but unprovoked, you called me a racist, completely out of the blue. What if I arbitrarily attacked you? Would you appreciate that? Redarmy kind of did that to you and you threw a fit. I did nothing to instigate and you attack me and have the nerve to tell me I shouldn't be offended. God damn, you're stupid.
I took offense because I am boring.
You sounded like a racist in another thread.
If you know what that word means, and aren't one - why are you offended?
That would be like me being offended because someone called me a dumb blonde... or stupid. An obvious, and foolish, mistake.
If you aren't a racist, please explain your ideas on racial equality and I will take it back.

LOL. Life under the harsh and unbending moderation of Mr Annonymous.
There will be huge propaganda paintings of you at the top of every page as a reminder of your power. These paintings will depcit you with a very serious expression on your face, and looking off into the distance like you have some sort of master plan-- the bottom of each painting depicts thousands of dedicated soldiers marching in formation along side tanks, and flatbed missle launchers. Somewhere on these paintings, the word "Progress" will be written in bold letters.
Users that say anything silly or off topic suddenly disappear...... only to appear some time later completely changed. Rumors begin circulating about a secret "re-educaton" subforum...........but the rumors quickly cease as people spreading the rumors also disappear.
I guess you would also have some sort of "enemy of progress" scapegoat. Maybe it will be the entire "Free Thoughts" subforum.
Mr Anonymous 10-21-06, 09:12 AM .... Actually, yeah. Kindda was where I was going with that. Only now I want you as my campaign manager...
Come on. Chop-chop!
geodesic 10-21-06, 09:44 AM If you know what that word means, and aren't one - why are you offended? It's offensive because the accusation was made in public, which means you can unfairly bias people's judgement of francois. If the remark is private, it's much easier to shrug off.
