who would you say writes the better erotica, men or women, i personally think women will because they know what a woman wants, they know what certain touches and kisses feel like, men on the other hand are more likely to write the "wham bam thankyou mam" why do you think that is? are men more into heavy hard hitting sex? That doesn't make it "better". Why would a man want to read erotica that was written to appeal to what a woman wants, as opposed to what a man wants? :bugeye: As I was saying in the masturbation thread... Women's libidos are genearlly more driven by emotion and touch, but for men it is thought and taste/smell. They have different senses tied to their libidos. Sound, for example, is much more closely tied to men's libidos than it is to men's. Well most women have emotional fantasies while masturbating. They will often have fantasies with long, complex, drawn-out fantasies with dialogue, plotlines and heroes. Guys just generally picture the neighbor's wife or daughter having sex with them. It's a lot like the difference between porn marketed to men and porn marketed to women. Most men will get turned on watching a video of a woman masturbating, it generally doesn't work for women to watch a man masturbating. Most guys love watching lesbian sex. Most women don't get turned on by gay sex.
Ann Rice? She hasn't written anything good since the Vampire Chronicles. Who the hell reads porn, anyways? I don't want to read about the midget nurses and the lonesome rodeo clown, I want to watch it on screen!
Personally i think that is an assumption and there are many exemptions to that statement. I'm sure there are many women out that are incapable of having 'emotional fantasies while masturbating'. Athough i do agree that female writers are more likely to write erotica that is more geared to the average woman, but the best piece of erotica i have came across was written by a man.
Of course there are exceptions. When talking about anything regarding differences in genders, you are speaking in generalizations and there are exceptions. It should go without saying, but I did spread the word "generally" about in my post to demonstrate that I was generalizing.
Its not William Burroughs...I can say that for sure. I seem to recall Anais Nin being a turn on - when i was 14/15 so to be honest i cnt recall the why and whats that pressed the buttons...twas tasteful stuff though... but I prefer the real thing to books lol.
I thought the Vampire Chronicles blew chunks. I just hate that much detail about what a place looks like or what people are wearing. Get on with the story already!!! And nobody reads porn, its erotica! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! I like it because I can meld it into my own fantasy life, which I can't with porn. The porn people already have a face where the erotica book people can become whoever I want.
*Shrug* She's setting mood and place. You might like the Kushiel series by Jaqueline carey (?spelling?) then. I haven't read it but some of her fantasy stuff is aight.
