Usually, you cannot edit the title of a thread the way you can edit a post. You should be able to edit the title of a thread within the first 3 or 5 minutes from posting the thread, if there are no replies in the meantime yet.
trial No really, I couldn't find the buttons that could lead me to the title.....where should I look for them?
Oh. Okay. So you post the thread -- the first post, and then click "edit" in that post. And then, you can edit the body of the text, and if you scroll up a bit on the edit page, you also see the title within a box where you can edit. (There is a box for the title, then there is a box for giving your reason for editing, and a box for giving your reason for deletion -- just so you know which part of the page I'm talking about. There are no special buttons for editing the title.) Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
which means I can also delete the title before anyone posts to it? I wish they had the facility to change the title even after a few hours or days.
I thought I'd ask this here itself, even though it doesn't belong in the thread. I'm a bit embarrassed to ask this after having read and used the word myself several times, but can someone tell me, what exactly is 'trolling'? Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Hi Buddha, Trolling is a fishing term. It means dropping a baited line in the water and dragging it behind a boat, waiting for a fish to bite. On Internet newgroups and discussion boards, it originally meant making a post for the specific purpose of getting a "bite" (inciting an argument or discussion). This wasn't always a bad thing! Trolling in this way is considered legitimate practice on alt.folklore.urban (the home of trolling at its finest and purest), for instance: What trolling is supposed to be about is exposing as idiots those self-opinionated people who love to correct every minor mistake that anyone posts.(tafkac.org) More commonly, however, only obnoxious inflammatory posts are considered trolling. One who trolls is considered to be a troll, a subhuman creature of Scandinavian folklore.
