You're a hundred percent right. But you've caught Islam at one of the lowest points in its history. Christendom has exhibited all the same idiocy, and so have the Jews. I don't think it's fair to single out one of the Abrahamic religions. They all lower their adherents to the level of five-year-old children periodically. What do you expect from a philosophy that's based on sheer fairy tales? From people who are told to worship a deity who creates imperfect beings and then spends the rest of eternity sitting on his ass and enjoying himself by punishing them for being imperfect. Christians, Jews, and Muslims worship a being who, if he were to walk down the street of any American city, would be prosecuted for being an abusive father. What can you say about people who are willing to do that except that they're all nuts and we should take care not to let them have very much power over us.

i'm not so sure you can blame them. they have been lied to, abused and beaten to submission their whole lives. they see the elite getting rich from oil, screwing western hookers not to mention the 9 palaces and all they get to do is pray and hope to get a bowl of rice to eat. i'd be pissed off too.
What puzzles me is how Muslims know these images are depicting Mohammed, as opposed to a generic depiction of a Muslim man. Can somebody explain that to me?
what appears to puzzle me most about these cartons is the fact that they were published in Spetmeber last year and only recently all shit has broken lose. Their seems to be a lot of shit stirring going on here in my humble opinion most likely by a mixture of groups, including western government, Arab nationalist governements and the extremist (for want of a better word to describe them) muslims. I feel this has been shoved into the lime light for political reasons with a whole host of groups as above playing the normal people to advance any position or preceived positon, they may want to hold.

Zakariya a danish imam put together a team to go to the middleeast and stir this up (even told lies about the situation in Denmark and included fake drawings). They began thier tour to whip muslimsinto an anti-western frenzy in november Six of these cartoons were printed in egypt on october 17th of last year with little reaction it is the purposeful provocation of imam Abu Laban & Co that has lead to this.
It's not supposed to be funny. An author by the name of Kåre Bluitgen was unable to get an illustrator for his book (a semi-children's book) about Mohammed. Jyllands-Posten (JP) queried 30 or so illustrators to draw a picture of Mohammed - 12 took up the gauntlet. The different cartoons you see are the result. JP, contrary to popular conception, didn't commission satirical or denigrating cartoons. Hell, off the top of my head, at least four of those made fun of Kåre Bluitgen and JP.
Sounds like it could be right, some of these Imams have no idea about anythign other than Islam, they are so fucked up and narrow minded, i hate to say this but i would love to smash him in the face, i probably would not, but unfiortunately the intention would be there. As a Muslim, I too ask the same question. To riot and kill over something that some idiot newspaper says is your prophet and you believe it? These pictures were posted late last year. Leds me to believe that this is just part of the story, a small part. [This would seem a conflict to me. On the one had the you say I can't do anything to ridicule or insult someones religious belief and then you say that freedom of speech must be taken into consideration and refuse to do anything about the law.] So, maybe, just maybe it was more about feeling wronged by the prosecutor and the way they are treated than the actual pictures. They were publish September 30, 2005. If they were going to riot because of the pictures then it seems it would've happened at the time of publication.
throughout europe there are anti-blasphemy laws still on the books the last timethey were used in court here in Norway was 75 years ago (and they lost the case). Reinstituting them has become a central part of the current uproar and it wouldbe a step backwards for europe and the world in general, we have already been through this in the west it hasn't happened in the muslim world yet.
