A few Indian passengers on a Chennai-London flight have accused an airline of racial bias as it allegedly provided accommodation only to white-skinned people.

British Airways flight BA36 from Chennai to London was postponed due to a technical snag. And hile foreign passengers were reportedly provided hotel accommodation and many routed through other airlines, at least fifteen Indian passengers claim they were left to fend for themselves.

They staged a protest after which they say the airline asked them to arrange for their own accommodation and have the expenses reimbursed.

''They were escorted separately by the British Airways' team,'' said Dr Mugilan, Indian passenger.

''An assumption was made that Indian passengers will not protest or will not require that kind of attention as a foreign passenger. British Airways needs to realise the consumer power of passengers, that Indians travel in a majority of flights leaving from India,'' said Dr Subhashini Chandrasekar, an Indian passenger.

Lufthansa is better than BA in treating brown passengers. Of course, all U.S. airlines treat brown people better than the other two due to sue happy USA. However, these days, after 9/11, airlines have too much power and can do anything they want.

Maybe they thought the Indians were locals and could make their own arrangements?

There can be many reasons for refusal and they don't have to necessarily be mentioned. I mean for instance what if it was learned that some of the passengers weren't going on a holiday but were actually attempting to gain access to the UK illegally through false passports and Visa's, the 'Postponing' of their journey might of just been enough time to check the information was in order before allowing them to fly to the UK. After all they might of been using Visa Waivers without talking to an Embassy first.

I imagine the same protests go on should any Pakistani's want to Visit India, but they don't get press released.
