What are your thoughts, feelings, and opinions of the
    series?
And what did you make of the conclusion?

Yeah, loads of people enjoy the series, and discuss it right here at SF. But they do so in the SciFi and Fantasy forum. You're fishing in the wrong barrel.

Maybe titleing the thread BSG was not such a good
idea, as I was more interested in discussion some concepts
that came up in the show. However it was a good series which
got me thinking about some things.

Are you aware of the Mayan stories of beings who came
to earth in search of gold?
I believe they called them the
    Annunaki.

Anyways the story goes that they came here to mine gold for
the purpose of exporting it back to their planet, and over time decided
to genetically engineer beings to do their dirty work.

To cut a long story short, after many attempts of blending different
types of hominids they came up with a hybrid human.

Could this be what the theory of evolution is?

I thought you would bring up the concept of artificial sentient beings, a common theme in the work of Philip K. Dick.

It was good. The ending wasn't expected, but nonetheless good.

Loved the show. I loved it so much, I was able to look past it's obvious warts. The final episode was the best 1 hour of a finale EVER and the second hour was the WORST at the same time.

OK I'll answer - No. Well not just no, it is more like are you freaking kidding? That is so silly it almost doesn't even rise to the level of pseudoscience, more like bong science.....

The show started out (newest series) 10/10 and dropped to -10/10 quickly.

But some cool concepts and stuff. (I like how jumps had to be calculated, it makes sense, after all you are going to have to change the inertia of the ship jumping from one point in space to another. )

It started well, then got depressing.

Then the 3rd episode started... and it remained depressing for the rest of seasons 1 through 4.

The ending was great... because it was the end!!

Meh, seriously though, it was okay. Good production values, and I know the subject matter leant itself to always being moody and depressing, but I think they went somewhat overboard for my taste.

As for being the "Best Scifi series ever"... one word: FIREFLY
    Two more: BLAKE'S 7
    Three more: DEEP SPACE NINE
Four more: LOST IN... ER... SPACE

Okay, I was joking about the last one.

I've seen Firefly, it can't compare. DS9? Please, you must be joking, I am the biggest Star Trek geek and I found it unwatchable.

Yes, BSG gets serious and tragic in parts, but that is what makes it so great. It wasn't cancelled prematurely, it didn't go past it's prime, it was just perfect (with one exception, there are no sounds in space).

Nope - I guess when I shine a light on a bar of gold, it can't compare to the steaming pile of... stuff... that you hold!

Then almost by definition you are not the biggest ST geek. Or perhaps you just needed better reception on your telly?

"in parts"??? From the getgo until the end, more like!!
It made the first episode or two great... the rest just wore me out, drained me of any joy I might have had... yet still I watched, forever hoping it would get slightly happier in tone.
    It didn't.
    Unfortunately.
It can't go past something it never had.
It was a perfectly depressing piece of televisual "entertainment" (with one exception, there was no entertainment)!

Go back to your children's programming then, there is plenty of it.
