He's crazy, he's completely fucking insane... I guess this is what being rich will do to you. Why is that you ask? Because spending a fortune to develop something that will cost a fortune, well that's never really a good idea! What was he thinking the applications in the real world might be? Jim can spend 30,000 on SURFACE for his kids to spill drinks on an watch pictures from their home camera? It's madness.... it doesn't even sit on a wall, it's not a TV, who's going to watch a slide show on the desk? Not me...

I am so sorry but this is ridiculious technology that any half-brained and well off person could've developed, it's totally a joke.. when it's forgotten in 10 years I'll laugh at him, then when he's forgotten I will laugh harder...

It's bullshit I won't use it.

 

You will, however, at least use something similar to it in the near future. Once this computer is out, a bunch of different companies will make different versions of the same product. Eventually you will use something very similar. This kind of interface with computers is inevitable and it will represent a huge improvement on the mouse and keyboard. It's based on motion sensing technology that's been around for a long time and now, finally computing bandwidth is catching up.

I don't know if you saw the interview (I didn't follow the link because I already know about this), but Gates clearly states that he aims to sell these to commercial businesses at first, just like they did with computers when they first came out.

About the reatable thing; that's some cool shit right there.

 

I've already used a wacom tablet, which seems similar. This new interface might be OK, but I have found that a touch screen has limited practicality. It's good for drawing on.
