Growing confidence in the future and warmer views of President George W. Bush and the Congress put Americans in a better mood this month, according to a Reuters/Zogby poll released on Wednesday.

The Reuters/Zogby Index, which measures the mood of the country, rose sharply to 99.3 in February from last month's 94.2, putting it at the highest level since August.

Concerns about personal finances, job security, safety and the direction of the country all eased at least slightly in the last month, brightening the outlook for Americans who had slipped into a funk around the holidays.....

I'm thinking many are happier about W sending them money, bailing them out of their stupid mortgage crisis etc...

Americans are optimistic about the future because they are counting down the days til Bush leaves office.

Approval would mean everyone was paranoid about him leaving, and NOT looking forward to the future.

Instead of putting those in charge of the banks and mortgage companies wrongful loan dealings nothing has been done and he has given those that went against the law a bail out to keep them in business! What a man! What a con man!

This is not a bash Bush thread. It's about Americans being more optimistic about their futures. Let's keep it on topic, ok?

My comment was not meant as random jab at Bush. It was actually an attempt to properly correlate an observation/fact. There is a general sense of relief that "it's finally over" (in terms of something the majority of the American public feels is a huge detriment to the current status of the country and their personal lives).

I'm not bashing I'm only pointing out facts. Because you don't see them as facts isn't my problem but yours.

  12. No slight or slander intended to any of the posters, certainly. But, I'm of a position where I have to listen to "frustrations" let's say.
It's not indicated to me, of me, for me, that everything's sunny.

More Magic Numbers. I fascinate on how news agencies pummel with how your house in many areas is worth something like 40-80% more than its original value. Then, 2 weeks later, this same agency speaks on the 'sharks in the water' and predatory lending. And, we're shown pictures of foreclosures/eviction notices.

These configurations of questions/answers, you know: Q&A; seem to appear to drastically influence many into actions where it suits the intended crowd, not the audience.

People are interpreting the data differently than you. And that is on topic. Participation in the thread does not have to entail approval of Bush or conservative interpretations of the latest polls. But, good try.

I think there was a rush to send jobs to China and a lot of places closed up around here. We got what we paid for and it was crap. I now see those jobs coming back.

Not true. W has almost another year as POTUS. The people polled were probably coming out of their winter funk. When spring is close by people tend to be happier. I'm sure there are plenty of other reasons too. Some are very happy to be getting a check for up to $2400.....

This is not the first time the gov has bailed them out. Did you forget about the S and L crisis of the early 90's?

They spent $160 billion back then to fix it. Their housing market was trashed too. But no one seems to remember that. Only what's happening under W's watch.

No. This thread needs to stay on topic and not become a Bush-bashing thread like so many of my others. Then the usual mod comes in and closes them down.

So if you don't want to stay on topic, then don't post here.
