Americans!!! Can you answer me something...?

Howdy.

Here in England, we have the option to own a Freeview box. This allows us a selection of Free-To-Air satelite/digital channels on top of the 5 normal ones we get anyway.

One of these Freeview channels is abc1, a spin-off of abc.
It mainly plays American sitcoms, heavilly repeated, and finishes each day about 6pm.

My question is this: I've started to quite get into a few of the shows on there and wondered if the (unknown over here) stars are big in America and what their public image is like.

Some on the shows include:
- Home Improvement (this was actuallt a hit over here first time around).

- 8 Simple Rules. What's Kaley Cuoco like?

- Hope & Faith. Kelly Ripa? Heard her mentioned in Family Guy once but she's a total unknown in UK.

Some of the other shows include Sports Night, Daddio (awful), Kevin Hill, Scrubs, Once And Again and some others that fall below the radar.

I've already checked out the stars online, I just wanted the Average Joe's opinion on these people. Are they household names, etc.?

I think that's one of the best American shows.

 

Yeah, we get your crappy sitcoms over here on PBS, some totally unfunny thing about a dentist, another worthless snoozefest about some superhero, and one about a controlling wife and her wimpy husband that is less interesting than a coma. The best british shows we get here are Monty Python, Red Dwarf, and Fawlty Towers.

Home Improvement was popular, but those other shows aren't.

 

WILL and GRACE.. is blantent gay agenda....

the guys are all gay, and yet portrayed as role models for young boys on that show.

and grace... is literally a slut... shes married with kids.. but throws herself at all men she sees....


advertising works... we all know that.

will and grace seems like it was produced by the satanic church...
as it promotes all their values.

Kelly Ripa is a rather funny actress who also co-host the Regis and Kelly show. In my opinion the only reason to even think about watching said show.

Home improvement is a big hit here in Michigan becuase we all know a guy like Tim

 

Flemster-I've always liked Tim Allen from Home Improvement. I used to watch him during his stand-up days. I'd heard he spent some time in prison on drug charges before he went into show business. My father was a maintenance man so we all related to the power tool humor. I enjoyed his mild chauvinism and handy-man approach. My favorite memory of his stand-up days was simple:

ALLEN: Men are pigs. Am I right ladies?
(All of the women in the audience start cheering wildly.)
ALLEN: TOO BAD WE OWN EVERYTHING!!!

Might not be as funny in print. You had to be there. But since we're swapping TV shows across the Atlantic, what's your take on "Peep Show"? We get it on BBC America and my husband and I love it.

i persnally liek 7th heaven and also a show called everwood, they are on the WB, if you ever see 7th haven on its good, it is eather a sitcome or a soap i dont know

 

We get a kick out of "Everybody Loves Raymond" because my husband's mother is like Raymond's mother only worse.

BTW, I think that "Will & Grace" episode was on during sweeps week. They're such ratings whores.

I think Will and Grace is a great show: It helps to curve the population growth by influencing the confused masses to convert to lives of childless families with same-sex partners! First stop is America, then, we go international...
