RE: DR jekyll dude was a guy who made some potion that when he took it, it changed him into something more beasty in apearance and desire.. (i think, but not sure)
i think it is more of a strugle of the psyche of animal Vs intellectual
in a sciencefiction manner acceptable of the times in which it was written to be a selling book
it is a common theme in many books and movies
which then the character then takes on moral issues in both personas
