Worms at Chernobyl resistant to mutation.

Back to the topic, here's an absorption spectrum I found for melanin:
Darker skinned frogs "seem" to be more radiation resistant?
Darker skin as protection against radiation has been known for decades if not centuries. All we need is to look at people adapted to tropical (high radiation) environments.

All species. including humans have evolved darker skin in high radiation areas (tropics). That's why native people from Africa have dark skin.

And in Borneo, and the Amazon rain forests.

But do peoples who immigrate out of the tropical zone revert to lighter skin?

Not if there are no survival consequences.
We must consider the "evolution via natural selection" (survival) process. Dark skin is not a danger in low radiation environment, whereas light skin is dangerous in high radiation areas.

That’s protection against UV, not nuclear radiation.
