How would religion be different if the "naughty boy" did not become the Messiah but his mother did?

The butterfly flaps its wings and the bearded women at the Monty Python stoning get together with Mary and fast forward to 2018 and there is a popess with bishopesses - no men allowed

Would men kick up a fuss throughout the ages to be allowed access to the all girls club until gaining entry in February 2014?

Would men take notice of women in charge in a church? Or would they be pleased all women flock off to church each Sunday and they stay home for TV sports?

Would lesbians be admitted to the church sooner than homosexuals were allowed in?

Would men protest against not being allowed to be ordained?

Would a popess lay down rules about men not being allowed to use birth control? Or would they flip that to men MUST use birth control unless the female allows and consents to sex without?

There should be mommy and daddy popes to bring little popes into the world.

The exclusion of women is just one more fact that evidences the stupidy and nonseness that is the church...
Tax them, tax crosses, tax holey water, tax them and see if they can then find a reason to exist.
What was your question?
Throw out the old men or at least make them wear a condom over their head with no air holes and bring in women they will do a better job ...mind you they will never be able to dress up as pretty as the current mob of pretenders.
Tax their gowns and robes and any sticks they carry.
In fact make them pay double tax to make up for all the years they did not pay...and fine them as well.

That could work. Various religions around the world in various countries have their own version of the Vatican with their religion's royalty marrying into other religions royalty

Any research about how many royalties exist? Are there any on the outer ie no other royal families would allow them to marry into theirs and no royal families want to marry into a outer royal family?

They do now ..its a club but nothing as useful or as productive as a sewing or knitting club...in fact when you try to define what they do one is left wondering...
Play dress ups as far as I can tell.
Tax them for dressing up.
It is unbelievable so much of the planets resources got to building churches etc and for fancy gowns.
Thats all they can do dress up and play make believe...

I am pretty sure that a lot of nonsense around the dodgy concept of "Natural Law" (abortion, contraception), would be treated a great deal more pragmatically if there were women priests, bishops and in due time a pope. Any woman who has had a miscarriage has a different perspective on abortion, seeing as "nature" does it all the time. The effect of unplanned pregnancy would also be something they would understand.

The attitude of the Church towards sex - and indeed towards women - has always been one of ambivalence and distrust. I blame St Paul, mainly, but no doubt there were cultural forces and traditions at work in the early church from other sources as well, including judaism (weird attitudes towards menstruation etc). So far as I am aware, none of the teaching of Christ - which is supposedly what really counts for Christians - says anything negative about women or sex.

Ordination of women priests would be a very good thing all round for the Catholic Church, in my view. I am sure it will come about one day, though not in my lifetime.

Following your train of thought, it is tempting to speculate that women's emancipation in its widest sense might have come about a great deal sooner if we had had a female church hierarchy.

But that's exactly what we have today! Far more women than men show up for Sunday services, esp in the Anglican church.

To some degree I think, yes. I suspect also that the social aspects of the church appeal more to women than to men.

LGBTQ+ is used for a reason
"Gay & Lesbian" is a soft sounding non confrontational term that has been acclimatized by the bigots to be able to subversively infer a them vs us metaphor.
it is modernly used as a means to imply a mandatory sense of "other-ness" by maintaining a single sense of polarity.

"Gay & Lesbian" directly plays into the psychological manipulation of the bible-bashers by asserting a single polarity where sexual orientation is not a moving or fluid scale.
it panders directly to the ideology that sexual orientation is singular and polar which they exploit to subvert the minds of the young and vulnerable to their brain washing.

When it comes to personal identity and sexual orientation modern folk think it should be personal choice, so assigning and being assigned labels tends to produce an abuser/victim reality into the social position.
inside such communitys it is no different to the extreme nature of racism in the usa where communitys of black people have chosen to live together to avoid being victimized soo openly.

There are some matriarchal societys where women decide who marrys who
and they also do all the trading of business and hand down their decisions to the men.
this has been going on for hundreds of years.
men are not entirely subordinate as much as simply tasked to other things.
used more like a pack horse and given time out to not engage in intellectual tasks.

At the place I grew up, on Sundays women were to go to church and men to the club.Women to pray, men to drink. Women to use bibles and read, men to use pool sticks and play.

Before the reformation made by an appointed Pope six to seven centuries ago, Popes and priest were to get married and have children. However, women were their wives and not their associates or replacements at the time of service in the temples.

Of course is a natural cause why women weren't allowed to preach at synagogues and churches. Same as well were natural causes why after having a boy or a girl, the mother was to be absent at the synagogue one or two weeks after delivery according to the sex of the newborn. All of those situations concerning women have nothing to do with male chauvinism, but it has simple explanations.

However, you can keep thinking it was male chauvinism because I won't explain you the reasons. Your mind is closed already and even when you hear them you won't accept them, and it is better to avoid a vain discussion.

I truly don't see any difference if it is a man or a woman the one preaching or taking leadership in a religious assembly, but apparently for the god of some religions it does matter. And if so, then men and women better to obey and avoid challenging their god. If you are not satisfied with the doctrines or rules of your church and you find out you can't change them, then better is to find another congregation and problem solved... for you... and that is enough.

Unless you want to become the saviour who will liberate women from male chauvinist churches where women are to keep silence and respect their husbands and let then take leadership. Make your own church instead, right?, and problem solved... for you... and that is enough.

Today, the so called liberation is not changing but is destroying the foundations which supported the building of the current society, the building which made it reach its higher moments. It was expected that after breaking apart the solidified structure of society, the construction of new buldings was the next step, like new stars after a supernova. The new stars won't shine much, will always be smaller, scatttered, many of them even insignificant. Darkness was to take control under such new condition, and it had to happen sooner or later. So, don't worry about it.

Why wasting time doing questions? Better is taking action. Make your female controlled church and pout your own rules. Became the new Poppes. Change the scrioptures at your will and serve to yourself as if you were the greatest goddess. Yes, you deserve... what is the word? ... oh yes... compensation... for all those centuries of oppression from male chauvinists.

Turning things unpside down in churches won't modify much general society, but will a problem solved... for you... and that is ... you know the rest...
