Thanks for the date. I hope they keep the ability to jump back to the prior open window (by putting pointer in the top left corner and clicking) - I am often closing a screen and immediately realizing I did not want to do that.

I just downloaded it yesterday. I like it so far. Better than Windows 8. The problem with W8 was it's tendency to flip over to the tiled window when I used the touch pad. There's no such problem with 10. It seems to be an improved version of 8.
I too am still in the learning period. I liked the tiles, but true you needed to keep the frequently used ones on the edge of the block of them, to avoid accidental activation of one with the pointer. To open centrally located tiles, I used my touch screen. Instead of favorite tiles, Chrome has my old ones in "favorites line" that appears when opening a new tab, but I have not been able to add a new site to that line.
Any one know how to do that?
I very rarely had the problem you spoke of but much too often when draging the pointer across the block of tiles, that re-arranged them.
I updated from Windows 7 about 4 months ago. For the most part I like it, But the MS browser Microsoft Edge is mostly a pain in the ass. I'm not given a choice when upgrades are needed and I haven't been able to display the ones that have been installed. I'm completely out of the upgrade loop and don't like it. At night I normally put my computer to sleep, but sometimes it won't go into sleep mode and I have to reboot the computer to fix that problem. I'm pretty sure updates needed the reboot and denied me sleep mode until after a reboot. I had a similar problem with Windows 7.
Seems like I had the same issue with Win8, it just did whatever updates in wanted without any input from me. I haven't given MS Edge much of a look. My Chrome browser seems to behave under Win10; whereas, under Win8 I had terrible problems.
My laptop just spent about 12 hours straight trying to update itself with the so-called Windows 10 "threshold 2" (November) update.
Man, that was slow. Something about the update process seemed to make the computer really sluggish. Read online that lots of people have had the update freezing on them. In some cases, there have even been endless reboot loops. Ugh!

I am now preferring 10 to 8.1 Initially I missed the screen full of icons I could click on to open sites I visit, but after a click on chrome, they are all there in one line, by name. You can add or delete easily and re name. I have given them all short names, so about 20 will fit on that one line. That line of names only appears when you open a new tab. I also like most of the images MS fills the screen with, but think doing that must add a lot on bits streaming to many.
It's real tough getting by that message in the middle of your screen that says "DO NOT POWER OFF THIS COMPUTER" But I have had experience with that and have no problem powering the computer off for a few seconds and then back on at about hour number 2. When I powered back up it completed the upgrade during the next hour.
I got a windows up grade that destroyed the files of the desktop, even though got the standard msg "Telling your files will be there just where you left them." That msg was up unusually long time (at least a minute) so I left clicked on it. - I don't know if this is why more than 3/4 of my files were gone and other files more than a year since last used were on desk top. (I think, but have not checked the ones that remained are older version. If so, all my files were re-replaced)
I have tried to undo the download, but to do that you need to be signed in as the administrator. I have tried every pass word, I can remember every using, with both capital letter and without (at start of name etc.) - none are correct. I don't ever recalling designating myself as Administrator, or setting a password for the Administrator. I am screwed, it seems.
At skype's sound test, I neither hear their msg nor can record anything. Via control panel, I have reset as defaults exactly what did work. I can now hear audio of videos and skype's test of my microphone tells me it is working properly at skype's sound test but still no audio at Skype works.
I was finally able to log on to my MS account, but not tell them the damage they or my problem (don't know administrator's password) with trying to to undo their update of 18/12/15.
I have been able to recover from pin (thumb) drive most of my important files, missing only the most couple of weeks changes) so main problem is have no voice on skype messages sent.
I have never like MS, but now I HATE them. How can I cease to have any connection to MicroSoft? Already I don't use "office" but free LibreO,ffice.

It nagged too much and so I let MS install Windows 10 here. Most ugly windows I ever had, to my eyes. A pity. Some things are good, some actions that I frequently use need more clicks than before, which is bad, it makes work slower. Overall it works. On the other PC I'll keep Windows 7.

Some how MS created a new user, with my full name and Email address, and filled its desktop with old files. When you do something to make the box where you put your password in appear; also appears in lower left corner of screen, the two users. In my case the one with a picure of me is the old one - the one I want. If it is not the upper of the list of two, I must select it and then get my old desk top back - no files lost or replaced. I did not know that when having a day of troubles reported in post 32. I just entered the pass word and found only old files, that skype had no audio and wasted more than a day replacing files from a pin (thumb?) drive in the newly created user.
Now that I know I must select the user with the picture, if not on top of list of two, I tested skype and it recorded my voice and plaid it back just fine.
Now I want to know how to complely kill this new user with no picture, only my name and Email.

Don't know if MS still does this but if you never changed the Admin password try typing in admin. Usually that will get you in. If not call MS and ask them what the default password is.

I just went through my new laptop's security settings and I set up GodMode but I haven't had the time to look at it more closely. I do not like Window's 10 communicating with Microsoft about my goings on, though.
