Why do women make so much less money than men?

I'd suggest it's due to a mixture of the whole Alpha syndrome where a guy is suppose to be the 'Man of the household' and the fact that in the ever diminishing rank men play in households now a day's, if they didn't earn that little bit more, women wouldn't tolerate having them.

Simply: Men need larger wages so they don't feel inferior (This settles the Alpha complex and keeps women happy with shiny sparkly gift things)

OK. So if you meet a guy and then find out he's a doctor or a lawyer or some venture captalist, it doesn't increase your interest?

A fat paycheck is for a female what a nice set of tits is to a man. Well, that may be overstating it. Tits can hypnotize us males. Perhaps a pretty face.

Do you watch The Office? I just saw an episode last night and Michael's ex-girlfriend wanted to get back together. He was dead set against it until she took off her jacket and revealed her gigantic new breasts. She was in the middle of talking about why they should get back together as she took her jacket off. Michael had been completely uninterested in what she was saying until her new breasts were revealed. As soon as he saw them he blurted out, "I WANT TO GET BACK TOGETHER!!!!!"

I guess if I loved him, it would be a bonus, it wouldn't increase my interest though. I have gone out with a "gorgeous" fireman who was also fairly well off. Another guy who was also very goodlooking and fairly well off. I ended up with Niezchefan who is not well off.........does that answer your question?

MEN are STUPID! and Superficial , thats all I can say about the breasts thing. Don't even get me started on that topic!

It depends.

May fields are still male dominated, a male neurosurgeon is going to make a lot more than a female.

However in like culinary arts for example men and woman wages are similar because it is an equally dominated field.

You've got to understand, when we get "excited" all the blood that goes into our unit comes directly from our brain. We're undergoing acute hypoxic psychosis!

Based on the latest US Bureau of Labor Statistics, women make about 80 cents for every dollar than men make. Why do you think that is? To what extent do you think it is due to unfair sex discrimination?

I don't think many of us are fatuous enough to think it's caused completely by sexism. There are many other factors at play here, such as the fact that men and women often do different kinds of work, they have different abilities and strengths, women have the role of caregiver, men are expected to win the bread, women get often get pregnant, and I'm sure the list could go on.

From some articles I've read, they say there have been studies that control for these different factors and show that the pay gap still persists and they imply sexism as the cause. Anybody know of any good studies which indicate sexism causes it, and to what extent? If you think sexism causes the difference, what makes you think so? What is the evidence? My hope is that people can back it up with studies and articles instead of "well, I know this smart woman is sexually harassed by her boss and doesn't get promoted and..." I don't care much for that kind of evidence. I suspect there is evidence, but I want to be sure that it's good.

So why do they make less?

Childrearing. If gestation, childbirth, nursing, cleaning up, etc. were all given a value and applied to what women are doing, you'd likely see women over take men in terms of production. As it is, women make less cause it isn't ascribed value.

Yeah, but how many times have you got tricked into sucking cock?\
Not so smart now, are you?

Is it really a matter of being "tricked"? Perhaps it is just a matter of the dogma of "survival of the fittest."

As you know, much research remains to be done in this area. Carry on.

I read an article the other day that did some sort of test/survey. The results determined that more often than not, during the interview process, women were much less aggressive in negotiating a salary. In essence meaning that most women were afraid to ask for a bigger salary, even though employers/interviewers were ready to offer them the same amount. I'd like to find it....here it is! It's not from the same site, but it looks like it's the same article.

I also wonder if they factor in dirty jobs that most women won't do but most men will.

Define dirty job. Most nursing jobs, motel room cleaning jobs etc. are held by women.

That is also totally true. In fact, many of us male Optometrists are worried that as more females become OD's they will drive down the salaries by working cheap!
