A lot of the moderators here actually provoke people then ban them. Maybe a bit more politeness on the part of those who see a problem would be more helpful. I don't always do my part myself, but I'm not a moderator either. When I do my part, it's like "please" and then a request to settle down or something like that, without some kind of stinging remark.
Maybe that would work better.
Growing irritation at someone tends to feed itself and if that is happening, as in a recent thread about the idea of banning a particular member, perhaps the people who are irritated need to look at what they are doing and saying. Maybe they should just let go. Some of us are living in each other's hip pockets too much anyway so taking some time off would be better than going at each other's throats even if the little twit deserves it.
