Its a nonsense to suggest that without any clear spiritual foundation we would have become civilised. Atheism merely suggests..'every man for himself' and it certainly would in Ancient times.

Nazis were mostly Catholic as were a majority of the people living in Germany at that time. On their belt buckles they had a saying " God is with us".
Seems to me you twist historical facts into whatever your mind thinks it should have been not the way it was. Most leaders during the 20 century were not atheists but devoted religious people of one type of religion or another but most were associated with Christanity.
