No-one can condone the slave trade. Nevertheless, I don't see why white people (who have never owned or made use of slaves) should be made to feel bad by black people (who have never been slaves).
My lowly ancestors, regardless of gender, didn't have the vote for hundreds of years. Before then they were born into slavery in their own country.

That's almost exactly what John D. Raifert said on the John Boy and Billy show the other day.
He said today's black people are generations removed from slavery and should honestly get over it. They should.

That's idiotic. Slavery spawned an ideology of segregation that continued until a time that even my parents can remember. Anti-miscegenation laws weren't taken off the books in some places until the 1990s! The legacy of slavery continues in the after effects of sub-standard education and ghettos, where property taxes pay for schools.
