Arguably the most macabre and blackly humorous news story of the past few decades is to be found by googling "Ted Williams head cryonic storage Alcor." I liked Arizona's senator/astronaut's observation in an interview that he was the Senator who represents Ted Williams' head. I had thoughts of casting my next vote for a US president for Mark Kelley, on the basis of that quip. But, yeah, I try to look at things like policy positions, intelligence, listening skills and integrity, too. So far, so good.

We don't really know much - some news outlets are taking "...McConnell said in a statement released by his office." as McConnell actually making a public statement. All we have is a press release from his office. If he's really going to return to his Senate duties after August break, he should appear before a camera and say so. If he can't do that then he is clearly not fit to serve and should resign. His absence has already scuttled a farm bill, due to his inability to vote on it. If he was really just spending those missing two months toning up his legs in physio sessions, there should have been no obstacle to voting on the bill. I smell horseshit.
