Nice, those pictures are pretty goodlooking. Perhaps I should visit Lisbon sometime.
did you notice the Golden-Gate Bridge look-alike and the Christ statue which is identical (smaller, perhaps) to Brazil's? *sigh* - Apart from that, it does have it's own identity.

This is a picture of Gunwharf Quays, a new shopping/entertainment centre with some nice architecture. Notice the big boat, that's the worlds largest yaght. Also pictured is the Spinnaker Tower (still being built).
Here is the not so impressive skyline.
And here's a splendid pic of a lampost.
I'm not really a fan of Portsmouth. It is the UK's only island city, the home of the Royal Navy...it's about 900 years old...and it's near me. It was rated 3rd worst city in the UK and there's a reported fight every ten minutes.
But don't let that put you off, come visit!

I live on the third coast--the Gulf of Mexico in "Brick Oven City." We're 45 miles above sea level. We have NASA and the Rockets. We have the largest medical center in the world housing more than 8,000 physicians. We have Minute Maid Park, Reliant Stadium, and the Toyota Center. We have immigrants from every country in the world. We have one month of fall, one month of winter, one month of spring, and nine months of summer. The median age of the people in my city is about 27 years old. Have you guessed what city I live in? It's Houston, TX.

Maybe this is a bit simplistic, John, but - given that you use the Irish flag as your avatar - I assume you are in the Republic of Ireland?
Or maybe you've turned the flag upside down, and you're really in Cote D'Ivoire...

Granted it is not in beautiful Lisbon, but it is compact, detached, low maintenance. Situated in a highly sought after and picturesque corner of central park NY.
Great thing about this place is my water, gas and electricity rates are competitively priced, mainly due to the fact that the place came with no such services.
Local amenities are close to hand because I can be moved closer to the amenities of my choice(likenext to a public libary for internet use). The lack of double glazing is not really a disadvantage though, as the lack of any windows ensures my heating is quick and efficient. Nice place if I say so.
