There is a saying, 'don't fix things that ain't broke'. I can't remember when was the last time I got ill, but as I am already above 30, I feel like I must start to take something.
The last one year I've tried:
* vitamin A-Z (a mix of those vitamins in 1 tablet) ---> I took 1 tablet everyday, then when the pack is finished in 1 month, I don't buy anymore, because I didn't feel it gives me any impact. Also, I wanted to try something else
* Multivitamin syrup (500 ml), (stop after the bottle was empty)
* some other type of supplement (like Zinc, Ca, etc)
I finish about 0.5 kg honey each month for the past 5 years (when I was in Indonesia, I eat honey just 1 spoon a day, but since I live in Germany, I put honey in everything, and I noticed that I finish the whole 0.5 kg in just a month). I once quit, but I immediately got common cold (I have no idea if it was because I stop consuming honey or because of something else), so I continue consuming it.
I also consume "cerebrovit" when I was in Indonesia (since I was a toddler, my parent put this in my drinks or foods), mainly it consists of vitamin B12, but as I couldn't find this brand in Germany, I took a similar syrup which contains mostly B12 and B6. I drink this 1 spoon a day since the past 5 years.
Since the past 1 week, I start taking Omega-3 capsules, because I read once in a webMD article that it is good. However, since I eat this, I feel like I can't sleep much (after about 5 hours, I wake up). However, in the day time I don't feel sleepy. I have no idea if it is because I also move A LOT during day time lately, or because sometimes I drink coffee, but the coffee is rather regular (not just recently).
What I wanted to ask is, what kind of supplements do you take? How long have you been consuming them? Is it better to take multivitamins or just take certain vitamins which are most important? I feel as I am above 30, I must take more vitamin E (to resist aging
, I noticed I have some white hair since a couple of years, if I take them out, they grow again), but if I consume vitamin E or any other very specific vitamin (not multi), is it dangerous to consume it regularly in the long run? What about the Omega-3? Should I stop it?? I only feel confidence to eat honey and vit B12 regularly, because I have been doing it since I was a kid, and I have no health problems.
