What is freedom? What are the origins of this concept?

Is freedom possible in principle, or does the very possibillity of existence contradict this concept? Does the concept of "Law" contradict the concept of "Freedom"? Whether it concerns the laws of nature or the laws of society is not importent. But was the existence of the universe possible without the laws of physics? And without the laws of nature, the existence of living organisms? Then where did the concept of "Freedom" come from?

Freedom is a description of the state of being or of experiencing oneself as unrestrained and unconstrained by forces outside of oneself; the ability to think, will and act independently. The actual condition is always relative. No living organism is ever free of gravity, its physical and mental limitations and its requirements for survival. In theory, the only absolute freedom is death. In fact, this cannot be known or experienced.
Does the concept of "Law" contradict the concept of "Freedom"?
No, laws limit individual freedoms in specific and clearly stated instances. It has no effect on the concept.
Whether it concerns the laws of nature or the laws of society is not importent.
Yes, it is. Mortals cannot disobey the laws of nature.
But was the existence of the universe possible without the laws of physics?
The existence of the universe includes the laws of physics; they are inseparable.
And without the laws of nature, the existence of living organisms?
Of course not.
Then where did the concept of "Freedom" come from?
From a state humans experienced as restrictive and oppressive, from which they wished to escape. Animals in the wild have no concept of freedom, even though they are governed by the laws of nature and also, if social, by the rules, mores and habits of their group. Animals in captivity long for freedom just like humans in captivity - as you can see on videos of animals let loose after being caged.

Freedom is life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness bearing in mind that all men and women are created equal.
Does the concept of "Law" contradict the concept of "Freedom"?
Law supports freedom by providing guidelines and consequences for those who would attack or take away our freedoms.
But was the existence of the universe possible without the laws of physics?
The beginning of the universe brought into existence the laws of physics. It's unknown what laws existed before that.
And without the laws of nature, the existence of living organisms?
If the laws of nature didn't exist, then nature probably wouldn't exist.
Then where did the concept of "Freedom" come from?
It came from the minds of people who lost their freedoms that they didn't even know they had. You never have to think about the concept of freedoms until you lose them.

Кроме свобода физической, есть ещё свобода мысли. Если, предположим, что когда-нибудь ИИ будет намного развитей, чем сейчас, то сможет ли он по своей воле принимать решения, или это всегда будет случайный выбор?
