I was accused of starting a "Flame Bait" thread. Never considered asking an honest question to be flaming.

Well, maybe be more constructive.

:EDIT:

And don't start your question with a definite conclusion about something that is still unknowable.

The question wouldn't be flaming per se; it would be bait for flaming.

Do you honestly not know what flame bait means? I think you do.
I presume that you think the appellation is unwarranted.

Actually, I've never heard the term. I've heard "Flaming," but never flame bait. Now that I know, I don't think the thread was flame bait.

"Flame baiting" is flamers shirking all responsibility for their flaming attacks and blaming the victim of them. It's typical of their spineless mob-emboldened mindset. "Oh my, I just can't stop flaming you. Must be your fault."

I confess, I haven't the foggiest idea why that thread - of all the current political threads on SciFo - has been labelled as non-constructive.

But maybe others have a higher resolution perception of the subtleties of American political rhetoric, and this crosses some threshold.

Never considered asking an honest question to be flaming.

You should try asking an honest question, sometime.

Meanwhile, flame bait is exactly what it sounds like, conduct intended to bait others into flame wars.

Sorry, Bowser, you've been online for over a decade. Your pretense of ignorance is not believable.
