War on Iran

Latest update on the war with Iran: Iran are said to have sent (via Pakistan) the US their final negotiating position. Details are said to include:
"gradual reopening" of the Strait of Hormuz on both sides (i.e. US eases its blockade also); US to begin unfreezing Iranian assets; sanctions relief; withdrawal of US forces from the conflict zone; and "a commitment to discuss" (but not initially) the diluting or handing over of Iran's highly enriched uranium supply.
Trump is apparently "50:50" and said "Either we reach a good deal or I'll blow them to a thousand hells", but he'll TACO out, of course, extend the ceasefire under the terms Iran proposes, and claim it as a "bigly success! Another war I've stopped! Peace Prize now!!"

If this goes ahead then I'm really at a loss to know what has been achieved by the war, other than to show the US as inept, that the Iranians have a stranglehold on the Strait and can disrupt the world economy, and that we're otherwise more or less back to the status quo of what Obama had agreed with Iran under the JCPOA. Only with the US having flittered away all its goodwill, its standing, and its respect on the world stage.
Staggering.

TACO Tuesday is only three days away!

1) Distraction from the Epstein files
2) Distraction from the Cash-for-Crooks program
3) A way to claim another Peace Prize i.e. "I ended the war with Iran!"
4) A way to provide a "victory" to get poll numbers up (i.e. "Wag the dog")
5) A way to get Jewish support

Apropos of Nothing

It's been a little over a week since the USS Alaska was allowed to be seen at Gibraltar.

Given the restrictions recently imposed by Spain on certain force deployments, I wonder if a nuke ballistic missile sub chugging past Spain into the Mediterranean is kind of a fist-shaking swaggering exercise from the Department of Belligerence or whatever DOD is called these days.

So it seems that Trump is hell-bent on tanking any peace negotiations with Iran, as well as tanking any notion of a Palestinian state. Reports are that he is "demanding" that 6 countries sign up to the Abraham Accords simultaneously with the signing of any peace agreement with Iran. Those six countries: Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, and Jordan. (He mentioned UAE and Bahrain as well, and that they are already members.)
It may sound all well and good to force those countries to effectively normalise their relations with Israel, but most support Palestine, and most have tied closer relations with Israel to their being a 2-state solution to the Israel-Palestine question. Most of the governments are not in favour of it, and most of their people would likely reject such quite strongly. Turkey would probably sign up purely symbolically as they have reasonable relations with Israel already. Egypt and Jordan would be less inclined, but still more so than Pakistan that would likely reject the idea out of hand. Qatar tend to support Palestine, so would probably need to see some progress there, and similarly Saudi Arabia, although probably the closest to signing up, at least before the war kicked off.
Heck, he even implied Iran should sign up.

So, that would all feed nicely into Israel's wishlist, and effectively do away with any impetus for a 2-state solution. So, all good.

And, look, getting the Middle East to have closer ties with each other is all well and good, but to demand that they be part of the peace deal between Iran and US is just stupid. They're separate matters. Get the peace deal done (Yay! Trump stops another war!) and then, if he's actually serious about it rather than just wanting his name plastered over everything, he should put things in place to facilitate discussions toward closer ties. Have respect for the issues.

How ironic, given his attempts to destroy NATO because they "weren't doing enough" for the US. What will this agreement due for the UAE?

Yes that was a couple of days ago. Another member of the bimbocracy bites the dust. Good riddance. Though no doubt we must expect another spineless arselicker without integrity in her place.

An alternative reading of the facts is that the president does indeed appoint toadying and comptence-lacking cabinet members who eventually reveal their unfitness for their jobs. Is pointing this out really a prejudice or is it just seeing clearly what's going on outside the Fox News bubble? I think this question is worth your time to explore a bit.

It is certainly politically incorrect to criticize any aspect of the administration, and Sculptor will NOT STAND for political incorrectness!

No, it’s not prejudice, it’s simply observing the evidence, from considering the unqualified people Trump appoints and how they behave. The sycophancy of cabinet meetings is a matter of public record, for example.

Don't Mistake These Poodles for the Real Thing

James Surowiecki↱ observes:

Pete Hegseth on March 13: "Never before has a modern, capable military, which Iran used to have, been so quickly destroyed."

Trump now: "We've actually left their military alone."

The actual quote from Trump is "We've actually left their military alone. People would be surprised to hear that." And, yes, given prior statements by the Administration, people would be very much surprised to hear that his war has left the Iranian military alone.

Furthermore, Trump's suggestion also treads into catch-all war-crime territory.

So we should probably check: Are there any actual supporters of the Trump crusade against Iran? Because, let's face it, sure, they're shameless to begin with, but this is so ridiculous that, yes, people making excuses for Trump and his Republican enablers are consequentially embarrassed.

Two state solution? I think that boat has long sailed away...

(about three weeks ago)

I wonder if they are now officially "in a thousand hells?"

Perhaps Trump will threaten them with TEN thousand hells next time.
