Quite easily.

It's called the Evening Star for a reason. It is the third brightest object in the sky, by far, after the Sun and Moon - all three of which are easily visible before night falls.

In fact, that is partly why it is so often mistaken for an unidentifed object, because most people don't expect to see planets during the day.

Google "Venus during daytime"

It is daylight here right now. Just yesterday at this time I was using it to calibrate my scope becaue it is an obvious evening object.


This is really something even the must rookie of UFO enthusiasts ought to know, or they risk making egregious misidentifications, and go posting about it on science fora.

LOL A thin faint little crescent only seen zoomed in with a camera. Nothing like what we see in the footage of the orb. This thing is bright and moving. Anybody else agree this looks like the planet Venus during the daytime? Be honest now..

Again you make the mistake of thinking one pic rules out all things.

The pic in the video is out of focus.
The Venus they photographed is at full phase. You are aware that Venus moves through phases just like the Moon, yes?

Yes. Venus is very bright. So bright, in fact that it can cast a shadow, if conditions are just right.

I have done this experiment. I could see its shadow with my eyes but my camera could not pick it up.

Google "Venus shadow".

It is exactly what Venus looks like during the daytime when out-of-focus, yes.

That's a quote from the first video is it? The one we're analyzing? Because the techno-wiz says he has not been able to interview the witnesses.

Can you give us a time stamp from that first video where that comes from? Or are you, once again, conflating several independent accounts?
 
Here's a video of Venus taken in daytime. Notice how tiny and invisible it is until zoomed all the way in. Looks nothing like the orb which is huge and bright and moving..

You are fooled by the field of view. The spurious video you linked to is a wide field of view. Even you as a rookie can tell this because it's wide enough to see trees and stuff.

We do not know what the field of view is in the video. No background objects are captured FoV. There is every reason to speculate that it is zoomed in.

'Huge' is relative. So is 'bright'.

It's zoomed in. Venus is bright.

How do you deduce that it's moving, as opposed to the clouds moving past it?
 
The video itself shows the orb clearly zoomed out compared to the clouds and then zoomed in. Clearly NOT the planet Venus which is invisible in daylight when zoomed out. Also those aren't clouds moving by. The witness said the orb was moving and that is exactly what the video shows..

So, you didn't post a link to the article in Newsweek then? Why did you say you did? Are you sure you're not just making stuff up?

So, now we're looking at an X account. A different video than the one we were analyzing.

OK. So the second video corroborates that this is very likely Venus.
They zoom in and it's a disk; they zoom out and it's a dot. As expected from Venus.
The video still does not distinguish between object moving past clouds and clouds moving past object.

As for his egregiously scant account of its apparent movements: it is very diffcult to tell what objects are doing in the sky over an hour and a half, especially when the only reference is moving clouds. It is very easy to be fooled by that - many people are. If he hadn't proferred such a paucity of detail in his description, we might put some credibility in his account of its movement, but he said practically nothing about how it moved or what direction or anything. A pity. But it is consistent with a rookie observer who doesn't think to pay close attention and report details.

By the way, Venus does move. In a hour and half - as he says - it will have travelled 22.5 degrees across the sky. If he first sighted it anywhere less than 30 degress or so up in the sky we will certainly lose sight of it after an hour and a half. Perfectly consistent with a sighting of Venus.
