UFOs (UAPs): Explanations?

More compelling photos of the typical silvery disc-shaped ufo taken by Rudi Nagora vacationing with his wife in 1971 in St. Lorenzen, Austria. The eyewitness parked his car and heard wizzing above him and snapped 12 photos of an object above flying in a zig zag pattern. The photos were later analyzed by an expert who confirmed it was a real airborne object. The object is not a plane, a cloud, a bird, or a weather balloon. Conclusion: disc-shaped ufo.

Conclusion:
UFOs are craft. This is shown from hundreds of cases of them landing and having beings exit them. Many ufos have also been spotted with windows. That makes them craft.

"Before he died, as a parting shot to ufologists and UFO buffs, renowned debunker Philip J. Klass cast "the UFO Curse" upon all those who believe UFOs are real.

He believed in magic and curses? I'll treat it as a veiled prediction. If it really was a curse, then I wonder why Paddoboy is quoting it.

It reads: "To ufologists who publicly criticize me ... or who even think unkind thoughts about me in private, I do hereby leave and bequeath: THE UFO CURSE: No matter how long you live, you will never know any more about UFOs than you know today.

I'd love to see his evidence for that prediction. (Assuming that's what it is.) It seems to me that if some small fraction of UFO sightings are indeed currently unknown sorts of phenomena, we might very well become more familiar with the underlying phenomena in the future. Pretty much everything seen in the sky is an example of that, the whole history of astronomy. Reviewing the history of science's acceptance of meteorites is instructive.

It's statements like this one that tend towards convincing me that "skeptics" really are trying to covertly insist that everything that happens in the universe must necessarily fit with their expectations. They seem to be saying in effect, 'If you hypothesize that there is some set of phenomena that isn't consistent with our expectations, then that set will always be an empty set'. (That seems to me to be what Klass might have been saying, in so many words.) Or, if there are any remaining unanswered questions, those questions all reside safely out at the frontiers of today's science, safely sequestered at the astronomical observatories or at CERN. The unknown won't, and can't, intrude into the more mundane sphere of daily life.

I'd really like to see the evidence that justifies that kind of belief.

You will never know any more about what UFOs really are, or where they come from.

If a 'UFO' must by definition be unidentified in order to remain a UFO, then Klass' prediction (?) becomes a tautology. But again, that doesn't preclude the possibility that we might identify some of them in the future as things currently unsuspected today. In which case they would no longer be unidentified.

So, Frisbee's are now considered "Compelling"? Conclusion: Delusional.

Wow, check out this "compelling" video of a ufo actually landing on a road in NY right in front of a car. This is real, hard evidence of aliens visiting earth, eh MR?

It's obviously a parody site, but it met Magical Realist's floor-scraping bar for compelling "firsthand eyewitness accounts of UFOs".

Quoting myself from just a page back:

[Magical Realist posts] any old crap without distinguishing it from good stuff.

:D Surprisingly you seem to have missed the fact that he was being humouress....sad. A humour tinged with the fact that UFO's have been around for decades, and the usual MR like claims of what they supposedly are have come with nearly all sightings. And you can bet your short n curlies that this will probably continue with the same immediate claims by the likes of MR, river and their ilk...you know, as I like saying....the usual flittering in and flittering out again, without any intention of making their visitations official, after obviously many L/years of travel.
Impressionable and gullible people will always be with us.
Or perhaps if you were more fair dinkum you would have seen the more serious quote based on some more pertinent facts......
"The energy requirements for interstellar travel are so great that it is inconceivable to me that any creatures piloting their ships across the vast depths of space would do so only in order to play games with us over a period of decades. If they want to make contact, they would make contact; if not, they would save their energy and go elsewhere".

I will continue to assert the reality of ufos since that is what I accept based on the evidence. I will also continue to defend the evidence that I have chosen to post...
What evidence is that? The amount of "evidence" that exists for claims of Alien controlled UFO's, over many decades has never changed. The usual blurred photo, the usual isolated kidnapping and anal probing, the usual saucer shaped or disk shaped apparent sighting from many miles away.
And all the time ignoring the many other possible alternative propositions. You know like the many known types of weather and atmospheric phenomena that can occur....meteors and/or meteoroids, bolides, comets, sprites, planets like Venus, cloud formations, reflections and/or refraction of light, radar malfunction or error, mistaken identity, pranks, even possibly unknown weather phenomena.
As a great man once said, "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence" Carl Sagan? You know some Alien dung, some Alien artifact, an Alien him/herself [presuming they have hims and hers :p] A captured Alien craft that we can all identify.
Instead all you give us are questionable photos and unsupported claims, supported by the utmost silly gullibility.

Then to add even more crap to your claims, you insist that all scientists are doing, is covering up, and/or blanket dismissals and blanket critique without investigation of the evidence available. Rather a strange claim in light of the fact that most scientists and cosmologists generally accept the fact that we should not be alone in a universe of near infinite extent and content, with the stuff of life being everywhere we look. So then, tell me again, why would such scientists then reject your "compelling" examples of Aliens/time travellers?
Are you an official UFO investigator MR? Are you a member of any UFO club or orginization? Or do you just keep posting these questionable claims in parrot like fashion, because deep down you know that in effect you have nothing in reality?

Let me sum it up for you and river and one or two others that believe as you do...
The vast majority of UFO sightings can and have been explained. The small percentage that remain, remain UNIDENTIFIED! you know, meaning we don't yet know what it is. Could it be an Alien craft? Possibly yes...could it be a gigantic prank? possibly yes...could it be something else? possibly yes.

Just thought I would check out page one of this never ending saga on impressionism and gullibility.
The usual nonsensical conclusive claim by MR, and two educated replies.
Right. A large metallic disc that flies at high speeds silently in the sky and shoots rays out of itself and even lands in fields with small beings that exit it isn't of extraterrestrial origin. How could you know that? What else COULD it be?
"What else could it be" is not science.

It is argument by incredulity - a fallacy: "I cannot imagine how this could be false; therefore, it must be true."

Which is why this thread exists.
As DaveC said... "What else could it be" isn't science.

What could it be? Literally anything. That's kind of the point - we don't know what it is... if we did, it wouldn't be a UFO at that point.

Presenting something you don't know and cannot prove or even support as fact is dishonest.

And you're obviously lying because you haven't even checked out the site.

Editor's comment on those photos:

"Editor's Note: This may be a complete waste of time and effort. I hate to call the submitter a liar, but this report is almost beyond belief"

It's on the site YOU provided in which YOU claimed is compelling. Are you backtracking now? Is that site bogus? Are you cherry picking?

"Editor's Note: This may be a complete waste of time and effort. I hate to call the submitter a liar, but this report is almost beyond belief"
So the editor of the site is
1] not sure this is fake (I guess he's new to this), but
2] feels is passes and decides to post it anyway (quantity over quality).

It took me 3 seconds to figure out what the image was, and another 3 seconds to Google "Solar Powerd Vehicle."

In other words, no matter how you cut it, this is an atrociously terrible site for quality UFO reports. But I guess it's good enough for you.

He says not even reviewing it. That's the typical skeptic response, dismissing the evidence without even looking at it. What are you scared of Dave? They're just photos and videos and eyewitness accounts.

A photo and video and eyewitness account of a solar car that was claimed to be a ufo landing. This is your evidence? Are you saying you yourself are not even skeptical enough to figure that out for yourself, that you too agree it's a ufo landing?

I've looked at it.

You haven't.

What are you scared of Dave? They're just photos and videos and eyewitness accounts.
...of cars on roads.

Kind of off-topic, don't you think? Worst UFOlogist of all time.

Not to mention a testament to your ability to distinguish quality content from nonsense.

But sure, you keep posting what you think are UFOs.

So in other words, you dismiss the whole site based on one case of an obvious hoax. What happened to your scientific spirit Dave? Your fearless determination to search for the truth wherever it made lead? Methinks your reaction has very little to do with science and everything to do with an excuse-making defensiveness against a threatening worldview.

If any site can give any credence to that which obviously is not an Alien piloted UFO, then yeah, sure, I'll totally dismiss it...Just as your own reputation here, sees most dismissing your nonsense.

Can't speak for Dave, but the scientific spirit and its search for truth whatever that maybe, lives on proudly. Perhaps you doth protest too much at reasonable scientific critique?
Methinks your reaction has very little to do with science and everything to do with an excuse-making defensiveness against a threatening worldview.
:D Oh FMD!! Your delusional qualities are up there, with your gullibility!!It's painfully obvious over the last 195 pages that it is you looking for excuses and any way out of a reasonable alternative explanation that you can find.

You want more? It was a simple search to find this hilarious video of a cloud claimed to be a mothership...
