Thread Alerts page set to 1 result per page

Is it just me, or does everyone else get only a single result in each of many, many thread alerts pages?

One would expect 25 or more results on a page, and just a few pages.

One would expect 25 or more results on a page, and just a few pages.

My experience on that issue has been chaotic. On odd occasions in the past, would get a burst of alerts one for each subsequent post, followed by sporadic ones with no discernible pattern. More recently, a 'consistent' pattern is to receive just one alert for the post immediately following my own, then nothing thereafter unless I posted again, then a repeat.
Exception being for really old threads - a single alert comes if such old thread is revived.

If there are any rules to all that it defies any straightforward logic. According to preference page, tick the right option and one should expect notification for each and every new post in participating thread.
Past calls for an explanation from admin were met with only silence. There is a perverse consistency in a way, given imo some of the other strange standards and actions at SF.
