To my surprise, my greatest enemy ever might turn out to be my greatest ally. For many years I thought that capitalism was truly an evil and egoistic system. In many ways, that is true. I spent years studying my enemy in order to defeat it. But after studying it for many years, I'm starting to get to a surprising conclusion- it was not made to be that way.
When capitalism was created, most of what we had was feudalism. In many ways, capitalism has preserved the feudalist system through the corporate ladder. But contrary to the feudalist system, it gives people a little bit more power to change the world. That brings me to my conclusion- the purpose of capitalism is to improve the reality of mankind.
This is a fairly nobel purpose which we don't see much nowadays. Most people who start businessess are completely concentrated on making money, often abusing or enslaving others. Many businessess such as Telus and Rogers don't give a shit about people. They basically financially rape people through so-called "promotions" and "bundles" which are designed to take money from people. This kind of firm often provides poor service and asks for a lot of money. You often have to pay for them to get out as well, and they also manipulate their contracts and add clauses in order to take as much money from you as possible. This is the kind of corporation that has absolutely disgusted me throughout my life and made capitalism my enemy.
But now, I understand that even non-profit organizations are businesses! What I've learned is that they have a mission, jsut like every business. It is the mission of the business that really matter. It is the mission that is the beauty of capitalism. Money must be considered secondary. That's why capitalism has become so disgusting even destroying our environment- people focus too much on money. Yes, money it is important. Without it, the business can't breath. But when getting money is more important then making the world a better place to live, then capitalism become rotten, devious and the most disgusting thing in the universe. But when the mission is the focus, then capitalism become something good for people.
From now on I actually love capitalism!!!
