The Show Your Paintings/Drawings/Images Thread

This is very timid for me I do not use pretty much any of the accepted links like instagram or x or even facebook etc. I actually just used my artstation to post a diagram a minute ago trying to get some help on figuring out some math things. I hope you like some of my work this is my artstation page https://www.artstation.com/artwork/GzBNa
That's pretty incredible stuff.

I dreamed of being a graphic novel illustrator myself but I couldn't stick with it.

I don't believe I am cynical enough to really understand how that works. When I was a lot younger I always wanted to be a sculptor or an astronaut. I suppose instead I got close enough painting and drawing and doing marine corps things. The cost of "want" is a lot higher than the price of have. It is even cheaper when no one really wants. I never wanted to really illustrate sequential art but I always had the ability to draw so I started making that, then I quit.

If you were to illustrate anything what story would you graphically tell?

I collected Heavy Metal Magazines. I liked to tell weird fantastical stories. But I was never as good as you.

Thank you. Maybe if I ever get more time in the future I will develop something to a finished quality. I drew my avatar based on my comic character.

Notebooks are cheaper than sketchbooks.
notebooks are cheaper than sketchbooks, sketchbooks usually have a paper range accommodatable for different media which may be more expensive by a few dollars. I don't wish to make an argument about paper and media but I will say having the right paper is an enhancement over just what ever is available. I cannot say I am super cereal (Like Al Gore from south park) about choices of paper. I can say that if you used different paper you could do more with ink washing your character versus bell pen cross hatching and also would be more loosely relegated to not be thought upon with ruled lines intended for writing. I prefer the inside covers of text books for my master pieces and use the shit ruled pages for dumbass flip book animations. Show me more of your work my friend

Pretty slick. The splashes of color & shifting perspectives are splendidly surreal.

I like the rougher sketchbook paper for pencil works. It's been a while since I did anything like that. Cross hatching those backgrounds into almost solid black is a bit of a pain in the arse. Fat-tipped felt tip pens help fill it in faster. I suppose I could try brushes to fill all that space. Something about slapping down all those lines is sort of meditative, though...:biggrin:Oddly enough, I never found the lines on the pages disorienting.
A ball point pen can provide something like an ink wash effect on good ol' cheap, hard notebook paper (25 cents apiece when school supplies are on sale can't be beat.) Here's another sketch that "got out of hand" and ended up with me scratching away at the background until it was filled in:

I am very fond of pen illustration myself.

It is a rare thing to find a ballpoint pen that is just right that you can get the nuances of fine, delicate lines with it. Usually it's all zero or all one.

It must be what those guys feel like who can pour a cup of tea using a backhoe.

But mostly I finish with Micros, Fine tip Sharpies or similar.

But pencil is nice too.

An interesting assortment of works !

I know what you mean about ball point pens. It doesn't help that it seems these days they're trying to make 'em work more like "gel/rollerball" pens. (Loathsomely unreliable things !)
Some will give an almost pencil-like shading with light pressure. That second thing I posted was all ball point pen. Plus I almost always have a ballpoint on my person, so all I need is a piece of paper to get going.

I gotta get back into using pencils...
