You have a case for some ancient world leaders like Caesar, Alexander the Great, Constantine. Religious figures like Jesus and Mohammad, Musical creative geniuses like Bach and Mozart, Leonardo Da Vinci.

The you have all the great writers philosophers and scientists.

So yes, in their own way they are still being spoken about, debated, taught to students and changed history.

Some of those guys changed history in my opinion. Not purposefully, Jesus for instance was just another first century apocalyptic Jew, there were a lot around at the time.
If he would have been born 300 years or so earlier he would not have been because apocalyptic thinking had not taken off by then.

I no longer call him “the Christ” however, I used to.

He to me now is Jesus of Nazareth, or just plain Jesus.

Christ is Greek for Messiah and Messiah is from the Hebrew word meaning “anointed one.”
Now you can argue he was anointed because he was in the NT, however that phrase is meant for the Davidic Kings of old appointed from high.


He was not a king appointed by god, he was a first century apocalyptic Jew, a preacher, healer who was executed by the Romans.

I rejected the Bible claims around 1990 so 35 years ago.

Since then, I have been studying scripture and what scholarship says about it.

I have also travelled around parts of the world and watch religion in action so to speak.

Nothing in my studies or travels has made me think I should give it another chance.

Can religion bring out the best in people? Good? Heroic altruistic behaviour?

Yes, sometimes. For me that is all there is though.
