The guy on the horse did not like me videoing so he turned towards me, it made for a great photo.
The kids at the front, I don't know, that's what they looked like. It was my friend who pointed it out as I was fixed on that horse, so I bombed over (no pun) and got an image.

Take into consideration this is a stones throw distance from
MEN where a suicide bomber murdered 22 people.

I am offended, perhaps they were inciting hatred or violence towards non Muslims? Not sure.
Luckily I am an artiste first and an offended atheist second or third.

Yes! It opens in London next week and my son and I hope to catch it when we get back from our respective travels. The FT reviewer felt Acme could be read as Amazon. The lawyer’s phone answering service includes options such, “If you’ve been hit by an anvil press 1.”

In fact nobody in living memory has ever seen an anvil. It is purely a thing, deemed to be heavy, that inexplicably drops (from where?) to flatten a cartoon character. Purely a cinematic convention.

I am far from expert on what suicide bomber attire looks like. I thought at first you meant they were wearing little faux explosive vests with wired-up sticks of explosive or something. What I'm seeing could be, IDK, some kind of formal Muslim garb.

They had road runners on the campus of the grad school I went to. I didn't even know they were real until then.

Right. The march in your photo was a walk to commemorate Ashura, a Muslim holy day occurring on the 10th day of Muharram, the first month of the Muslim calendar, "ashura" being apparently the Aramaic word for "tenth". Sunni Muslims associate this day with the crossing of the Red Sea in the Israelite Exodus from Egypt and also the day when Noah was able to leave the Ark after the Great Flood. So Sunnis celebrate Ashura. For Shia Muslims its significance is different, namely the martydom of Imam Hussein. So for them it is a day of mourning. (I had to look most of this up.)

So, yeah, it looks as if this was a Shia Muslim parade, to judge by the placards being carried and the banner referring to Hussein. Apparently this has been an annual event in Manchester for the last decade or so. Hence the black clothing and green headscarves, green being generally the colour of Islam.

I don't believe the two little girls you refer to were dressed as suicide bombers. What is more likely is that suicide bombers often choose to dress in traditional Muslim mourning garb, as part of psyching themselves up. The fact you made that assumption illustrates what we are all up against in terms of understanding one another's religions - and the climate of hostility that suicide bombing sadly creates.

Supposed to be a good film as well. Think "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" rather than "Space Jam". I'm looking forward to seeing it at some point.

Like steam engines. In cartoons mainly, but not in real life for the vast majority of people.

This will probably be my last post on this site so... In the name of Allah I wish you peace.
Whitechapel East London contains the only mosque in the UK which is allowed to perform the Adhan, the call to prayer.
Church bells go ding-dong and no message.
But with the Adhan, the call to prayer there is a message...
“There is no God but Allah and Muhammad is his messenger.”
