Sylvia Anderson decided to sex up UFO with those hunky blokes in string vests (?!) in the submarines and the girls with those purple wigs on Moonbase, among whom Gabrielle Drake (Lt. Ellis) was in my view by far and away the most gorgeous.
By the way I gather Michael Caine's wife was another of the Moonbase girls. Not many people know that.
Did you know Sylvia Anderson was born in Camberwell London and Michael Caine went to school in Camberwell.
Not many people know that.

Two pigeon metaphors in one page! Yes! Though I feel the need to point out that
a regular pigeon can also do what Randwolf has ascribed to a mutant pigeon.

some mutant pigeon - swooping around, dropping a pile of shit here and there, then flitting off.

AFAICT, perched here on my seat at the amateur ornithologist table, this is pretty much the mainstream pigeon lifestyle.

That, and freaking out our cats if they're in the basement and the pigeons are cooing atop the chimney - the flue pipe forms some of kind of a acoustic conduit which gives the sonic illusion that they are inside the furnace. Not many people know this.

At least pigeons are better than all the alien mentalities in human form that can't see past the end of their noses.

The sixth age shifts
Into the lean and slipper'd pantaloon,
With spectacles on nose and pouch on side,
His youthful hose, well saved, a world too wide
For his shrunk shank; and his big manly voice,
Turning again toward childish treble, pipes
And whistles in his sound. Last scene of all,
That ends this strange eventful history,
Is second childishness and mere oblivion,
Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything.

Except the ones that are 21st century and beyond.
Each generation, has its own pseudoscience believers. The facts are though, when those pseudoscience believers are dead, buried and forgotten about, there will be no guardian Angel for salvation, and history and historical records will continue to record the facts as they are. What a sad wasted miserable life they lead!

I'd scrap the NFL for a National Rugby League in a heartbeat !
American football has it's dramatic moments, but at times it's like watching a machine repeatedly wound up and set in motion.
Rugby's got flow. Plus - those hits ! You watch these crushing collisions, &tc. and wonder how they're not carting some guy off to the hospital instead of him getting right back up like it was nothing.

We do now have extra safety precautions, particularly with regards to head knocks...here (google) The NRL Head Injury Assessment (HIA) is a mandatory, in-game medical process used to identify potential concussions, involving both club and independent doctors. Players with Category 1 symptoms (e.g., loss of consciousness, ataxia) are removed immediately, while Category 2 cases may return if cleared. If diagnosed, players must follow strict, multi-stage concussion protocols.
Key HIA Process Details:
  • Independent Oversight: Independent doctors can rule players out if they show severe, visible, or Category 1 signs.
  • Removal Criteria:Includes suspected/confirmed loss of consciousness, balance issues, confusion, or behavioral changes
    .
    • Category 1 vs. Category 2: Category 1 means no return to play. Category 2 allows for a potential return if the player passes the assessment.
    • Post-Game Care: Even if a player passes and returns, they are monitored for delayed symptoms.
    • Return to Play: Players diagnosed with a concussion must follow a structured return-to-sport strategy The 'return to sport strategy, involves no games for 11 days. All in all, the speed of the game is its greatest draw card, coupled with the big hits. Another point with regards to the attraction of the game, is that it is open to smaller players...our half backs and five eighths positions are generally smaller men and another is fullback. Hope you get a chance to watch it!
