The only thing worse than death is living forever

I wish God was, and loved me and you too.
Ive never wished that ther was a God... but if Gods are real an i had a choice in which one to choose... at the very least i woud choose one that woudnt allow miserable pain.!!!

For sure me too about how God would need to be. I think of God being nonexistent like how I think Epicurus said can't possibly exist because of the terrible state of the world.

If a God intentionaly created this hot-mess for his children... i sure woudnt have a desire to sign up for his "live forever plan"

I think there isn't a plan like that available to sign up for. However, to avoid needing to deal with anxiety about the future or dealing with hardship in general, I wish for something like a small meteorite to instantly put me into eternal nonexistence.

Death isn't "bad" or "good". It's just inevitable. There is no heaven or God so when it occurs that's it. It might be something to delay for as long as possible but I wouldn't characterize it as "bad".

I havent read the Holey Bible... but i dont thank our lovin father allows "nonexistence"... its ether eternal bliss or eternal torture.!!!

Only the act of dying might be a bad thing. Right after it doesn't matter any more ...... o_O
Well, I think the idea behind it being "something to put put off as long as possible" is really more about ensuring one has accomplished enough in one's life before that threshold is crossed that can't be uncrossed.

Indeed but all evidence I've found suggests that deity doesn't exist so there's no one to give either a happy or torturous supernatural afterlife.

I recall a saying that man created God in his image
Yes... an the ones who had a hand in creatin the Holey Bible God did a sucky job.!!!

Some of the recient Gods bein created are much more sympathetic to the human condition... but still suck :O

How else would we know God's image? How else would we know God has all the good and bad traits man does?

The more sophisticated philosophies often assign animal features to deities, as animals are often associated with specfic behaviors both benign and destructive and in the abstract all gods are representative of animal emotions and behaviors.
There is only one God which has all the good and all the evil characteristics of mankind. The OT god.

I find if you believe in life you can live forever happily.

Gradually the OT God evolved as civilization progressed, and literature played a role. It enabled more people more access to the latest theological thought, much describing God as being kinder and more compassionate than previously.

In thinking about this question further...I wonder if living a life without any sense of purpose...if that might feel worse than death? Hmm.

ETA, but we really won't ''feel'' death, so maybe this is all a moot point.
Tons of things worse than death, think about all the different pain types etc, death is welcome for many. The hangup is either leaving your family in the s£it by having to pay for your funeral to "I really hope God exists(from a lifetime Christian)".

I speculate that if heaven existed, nothing positive nor negative would change at all.
Equilibrium must be maintained in all respects of infinite beings. In a dynamic environment the law of "movement in the direction of greatest satisfaction" is sufficient mathematical imperative to feel the emotional "joy of victory and pain of defeat" for any kind of commonly shared self-aware sentience. A binary state must be balanced to remain an equation...

Humans are but one of an infinite set of expressed examples of those universal evolutionary principles applied from the very subtle to gross expression in reality.
I'm going to call you "Data"(Star Trek Next Generation), compliment.

Heaven to me would be a miraculous place (supernatural), and it would be impossible to be bad in any way at all. I received some schooling in Catholic theology, having parents from an earlier era before modern times now demarked by how religion tends to run on fumes, so to speak. Now, knowledge is more easily available especially including why religion exists, likely a result of human evolution (mental need due to too strong an understanding of reality before scientific knowledge blossomed).
So we've went backwards?
