I think he views nationalism as a kind of calisthenics for the soul. He does not think of it in a political way. It's like if you do sit ups and push ups and march you will learn to stand up straight. If you are nationalistic and patriotic your soul has good posture.His idea, apart from that it would result in bad education, would instigate conflicts in general.

I think he sees the ideal man - not unlike certain sculptures with neo-classical figures so popular in the Third Reich - and that is as far as the implications of his beliefs go.
