The End Hollywood

The problem with AI being used is that the output stands on the shoulders of everything the AI was trained on. And that training material goes unrewarded.
It's coming to a head ever more. There's a new "band" on Spotify racking up the listens that is seemingly wholly AI. The songs are okay (what little I've heard) and fairly indistinguishable from a real artist. And presumably Spotify will end up paying this band royalties. But not the material/artists that the AI used/was trained on.
Sure, there's some skull in the editing/mixing and the prompt creating that gives rise to the output of the AI that is this good, but is it right that they benefit from that training material without really paying for it, and to the detriment of those who did create that training material?

(The band's name, if you're interested, is The Velvet Sundown.)
