The ABC game

“The true Southern watermelon is a boon apart, and not to be mentioned with commoner things. It is chief of this world'd luxuries, king by grace of God over all the fruits of the earth. When one has tasted it, he knows what the angels eat. It was not a Southern watermelon that Eve took: we know it because she repented.” - Mark Twain

Sometimes when I am enjoying watermelon, I imagine that here is the reason a superior extraterrestrial civilization will take over our planet. For this alone the backwater star Sol will be known, for it is the one with 'The Watermelon Planet'.

Pure Vanilla is the second most expensive spice on the planet, or at least when last I checked. Be wary of processed foods that claim to use 'natural vanilla' because it is one of those word loopholes permitted by the food industry.

Thanks for that... Now I want vanilla ice cream. It's 1 am here, I'm not driving anywhere. That's it then, I expect you to bring me some... I live in California, see ya in a bit.

You should eat dinner before dessert, Gremmie.

Xacuti looks pretty tasty to me. Xacuti is a spicy chicken dish native to Goa, India. Kashmiri chillies and other spices go into making the pungent, bright colored curry.

That does look very good... Since you're already bringing me the vanilla ice cream, I'll have some of that too please... : )

You had 'Z' Scheherazade, but you haven't chosen a new topic. If it's all right with you and, um, Gremmie and our OP/host Squirrel, can we do flowers? It will be scientific and pretty at the same time. A really winning combo, what?

This is the rare pure white form of Borago officinalis, "Borage" or "Bugloss", which is a famous old medicinal plant with a very rich history, having been used in a versatile manner for medicinal, culinary and ornamental purposes. In the early part of nineteenth century, and indeed right up until today, the young leaves can be used in salads and the young tops boiled as a pot herb. The fresh herb is considered as a coolant that renders 'coolness' when steeped in water. Refreshing and restorative summer drinks can be made with it after mixing it with lemon, water or wine! In addition, the composted foliage, if steeped in water makes an unbeatable fertilizer and plant food.

Dude... That was unexpected, and caused me to forget dinner. If I wanted to see that, I'd go to Walmart.

She certainly is a special, precious flower, but beat my fake black big mama? I don't think any one really wins here. :{

Wiki disambiguation???

il_340x270.403752978_4g7m.jpg

Dalia is the goddess of fate in the Lithuanian mythology. She is the giver and taker of goods and property. Dalia is often confused with and hard to distinguish from Laima, another goddess of fate. Sometimes Dalia is thought of as a different manifestation of Laima.[1] However, Laima is more involved in predicting the length of a person's life while Dalia is more concerned with material wealth a person would earn during the lifetime – allotting a proper share (Lithuanian: dalis) to everyone. According to myths, just as a father divides his estate among the children, so Dievas Senelis (manifestation of supreme god Dievas) allots each newborn with a proper share.[1] Dalia is seen more as an enforcer of Dievas' will rather than a decision maker. She can appear as a woman, lamb, dog, swan, or duck

Edelweiss. Every morning they greet me!

Small and white, clean and bright: they look happy to meet me!

Blossom of snow may they bloom and grow, bloom and grow forever!

Edelweiss, Edelweiss, bless my homeland forever!

Very interesting about the cherry seeds that spent time in space.

Fuchsias come in so many forms and colors.

Very nice fuchsias. Gardenias are very nice too. I will try to make my next one a flower that isn't small and white though. I've had several of those now including the cherry blossoms (sakura)

Sorry Scheherazade. If you want to do a second H that's fine, but I really wanted to get in Hyacinth because I know a good poem to go with it:

hyacinth.jpg

When of thy mortal goods thou find thyself bereft,
And from thy slender store two loaves alone are left...
Sell one, and with the dole
buy hyacinths to feed thy soul.
